When we think of fast cars and trucks we automatically associate them with men. No one really thinks about women finding passion in building a car or racing. Because nine times out of 10 women are the ones who are the first to take their car to a mechanic and have it fixed or have the oil changed, tires rotated, stuff like that because we just don’t do it ourselves cause it’s a mans job right? Nope! Not in all cases. Hi, my name is Ashley. I’m 31 years old and I love everything about fast cars and old school trucks! Alittle about me, I’m the first girl out of 4 older brothers so as you can imagine I was raised around all the things boys like to do. Watching and helping with car build projects were always fun but when I got my own Toyota 86 sports car all the ideas came flowing in! No it isn’t an America muscle car or anything like a Chevy nova or a Thunderbird but it has given me a new respect for foreign imports. And of course u can’t have a sports car without it being a manual.
I bought my Toyota 86 off the showroom floor June of 2019 and immediately joined a car club and the car club became my new life. From car shows in different states to photo shoots constantly, I was living a new dream! But like any hobby there’s always a downfall When it comes to trying to keep your love life and your passion for the things you love equal. You would think being a Woman and loving the things a man would typically love would go perfect together and would also run smoothly but no not at all cases. I have found that men think it is so cool when a women loves cars and everything about them but it’s hard for them to except a woman being around that many men constantly. So the real question is how do you do the things that you love and that make you happy while also being able to be loved and trusted?
From my experience when you find that right person you just know that he’s the one because he will never question your trust or keep you from what makes you truly happy regardless of the type of people you do those things with. And he won’t try to change you or the things he knew you loved doing from day one now that he’s with you.
Growing up my brothers Taught me to be tough and to take care of myself if the time came and I was in a situation where I was at a disadvantage I’d be able to protect myself. That was also the case for relationships. My oldest brother would say, Ashley relationships are like building a car, if you don’t study it really good and listen real close you might miss that one thing your looking for and then you’ll be trying to fix things and replace things that don’t even need fixing or replacing. And no one likes wasting time that doesn’t have to be wasted in the first place if you pay attention to the details. When he told me this it just clicked and made perfect since and I carried it with me in life ever since and it’s really worked wonders.
You know that saying never judge a book by its cover? A lot of people I meet learn that meaning because you would never think by looking at me that I would ever be under a car or truck or on a drag strip racing. I keep my nails done nice, my hair is usually styled and I love my heels with a pair of jeans and a cute top. But I love to go fast and there’s nothing better than shifting through the gears and working that clutch. But the best part about it all is being able to answer questions about a vehicle your driving because you personally did all the work on it and know what your talking about. Anybody can buy a car or truck and have work done to it but the real pride comes from doing it yourself and knowing all there is to know about what your talking about or explaining.
Life is what we make of it and the choices we choose should be the ones that make our life better each day. Do what makes you happy and complete with a person who also does those things for you and never worry yourself with the thoughts or judgments from the next person because everyone will always have their own opinion and we can’t please everyone so just please yourself! Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed the story.
