3 Qualities For Achievement In The Arts
3 Qualities For Achievement In The Arts
After I was quite young, potentially at the age of 8, I had a slight preference for Mickey Mouse. In the beginning, I accidentally found step by step instructions for drawing a deal with Mickey Mouse. An oval in this article, a circle there, connecting strains in this article, here and listed here, and - voila! Mickey Mouse. It was absolutely magical.
And that I was a wizard.
I repeat this method over and over again, almost never getting tired of watching Mickey's experience arise at my command. 1 working day when I was doing magic at school, 1 of my younger buddies noticed this and in awe asked: “Did you have to do this?” I proudly confessed. He called a few more friends, and they were all equally impressed. They are known as I am an artist.
And I thought them.
With such enthusiasm, I asked for help and mastered the drawing with the faces of Donald Duck and Goofy. Now I have a repertoire.
Soon my teacher saw what I was capable of and explained, “My! What kind of artist will you be?
And I believed her.
I definitely enjoyed being a wizard who could create one thing out of nothing.
I was bragging to my little sister Kathy the other day about what a wonderful artist I was when my mother heard me. She was taking art school exams after school and decided I needed a reality check. So she sat me down with a pad and pencil, seated my sister in front of me, and advised me to draw Cathy.
I did so, and the result looked strangely like George Washington. (Lest you think my sister is some kind of genetic disorder, she didn't look like George Washington under any circumstances.)
Which was great. I was suitably humble with practical experience. But a few months later, our university held a competition to attract a portrait of George Washington in honor of the approaching anniversary of his birth. I submitted an image of Kathy. And that I got the 1st prize. Now the whole faculty knew what kind of artist I was.
And what I thought them.
A few years later, my mom gave me her outdated oil painting kit, and I dabbled in it from time to time. Once I drew up a plan for your image and squeezed paint for it onto a pallet. At the last minute, I decided that I did not really want to portray, but I realized that I could not leave the paint to the wind. So I took the paints and smeared them on an outdated cork board in a frame at home. A year or two after that, my mother told me to enter the 5th county art competition with this painted corkboard. I did so and got 1st place for my "abstract painting". Now my status as an artist has been securely confirmed.
A few years passed, and I entered the university with a degree in Marine Biology, but the craving of my first love, becoming a magician, did not leave me. I switched to the Artwork specialty. When I bought my drawing course, I noticed the great work that other people were doing, when my clumsy work even now reminded me of the image of George Washington - Kathy. Before, I wasn't the great artist I imagined myself to be. I was ashamed of my lack of qualifications. I upgraded majors to graphic design where I wouldn't have to draw but could be artistic and work with all the photos of many others rather than my own.
But I couldn't hide from drawing forever. One of the programs I needed to purchase for my degree in graphic style was illustration, and I couldn't give it up forever. In it, I had to confront my previous demon: drawing. However, there was an interesting factor. Even though I wasn't gifted, I admitted that I experienced a return to my old passion, picture building magic.
In close proximity to the pinnacle of this system, I heard my illustration instructor talk in his other courses about his unnamed scientist who "couldn't draw a ruler without a ruler" but nevertheless managed to create great visuals thanks to actually he could "outsmart what he couldn't do with local abilities", and as "he was willing to take the time until it was right". I was sure he was talking about me.
Quite offended, I ran into my trainer and asked if I was the person he was discussing. He explained that I was. I asked him what he meant by his statement. He advised me: “Michael, you will discover 3 qualities that ensure results in the arts. They are: 1) talent, 2) the ability to do things you can't do directly, and 3) enthusiasm for a feature that keeps you going until it fits. For those who have only one of the human characteristics, you simply will not allow it to be associated with art - even if it is a good quality - talent! Then he seriously approached me and said: “Michael, you can have the last two traits. You just can do it."
I've been thinking about this advice for quite some time, and I think it's generally accurate. Over the years, I have come to the conclusion that the experience will not be a mystical gift that may or may not be present in a man or woman at birth. I think talent is just understanding or talent acquired earlier.
Over the long time that I have awakened to my passion for photography, I have discovered many abilities and developed in knowledge. I have struggled with getting just about every bit of visual information, but often find the exact same excitement when I am a magician and create an illustration.
Of the three qualities described by my teacher, talent, the ability to overcome one's organic shortcomings, and a love of getting the job done, the first two are usually enhanced by diligent analysis and energy. The only one that should be relevant to start with is the last option, the love of the job and the willingness to work until it's perfect. I feel that people who have a real passion for their art can mature in their talents. It may be gradual, but it will happen.
In fact, the most enjoyable aspect is that you can learn. You will never know it all, although mastering is appreciated and the quest for this magic never ends.
And there is nothing better than becoming a wizard.
Thank you very much for reading to the end, and please support me as much as you can, I would appreciate it. Have a nice day :D
