It’s been a bummer of a day, or perhaps a week. You’re feeling a bit rough around the edges and need a blues buster. Try these 12 unusual ways to combat the musty cloud of yuck hanging over you.

1. Take a Shower Sitting Down.

This isn’t a shower you jump into before you rush out the door to work. This is an energy cleanse, so leave the soap and shampoo alone.

Put a thick rubber mat under your butt and sit facing the streaming water. Imagine it to be a warm loving spray that rinses all your worries from your auric field.

See the water go down the drain. Imagine it taking your sorrows with it.

2. Use Big Fluffy Warm Towels

Skip the towel with the ragged edges and tears. You deserve luxury.

Most of us have seen those lush towels in the store with a high price tag. We touch ’em, say “AHH” then move over to the cheaper ones and purchase. But today is the day, you go get yourself one of those bad boys. Why not?

Throw it in the dryer prior to showering so it’s nice and warm when you get out.

3. Oil Yourself Up-Every Nook and Cranny.

Use a pure oil, like sunflower, olive, hemp, or jojoba.

Stay away from lotions with chemicals and fragrances. If you like aromas, add 100% therapeutic essential oils. Oils like lavender will relax and calm the nervous system, while oils like peppermint will stimulate blood flow.

Or go for a combo oil, like Sacred Scent from Vitality Extracts. It contains a blend of 9 rich oils such as Frankincense, Myrrh and Cedarwood.

Start the ritual with the soles of your feet, massaging vigorously. Our feet carry all our stress, show ’em some appreciation.

Get in between the toes, rub the tops of your feet plus your ankles. Work your way up the legs and so on. Don’t miss an inch.

4. Put on a New Pair of Underwear.

Whether they are hot and sexy or cotton and comfy, it doesn’t matter. Your underwear is a reflection of your personality and self-image.

Not feeling so good about yourself? Use your fantasy persona. Wear the kind of underwear, he or she would wear.

5. Drink Tea

Herbal tea has healing properties. You can drink a cup hot warm or cold, whatever suits your mood.

If you want to feel revived, drink a cold glass of Yerba Mate Organic Unsmoked Tea. In Argentina, they add, pure cane sugar and lime. Feel free to substitute with agave or pure maple syrup.

If you want to feel soothed, drink a warm cup of Calm: Stress Relief Tonic Organic Tea from the Shamans Market.

The herbal blend reduces stress, anxiety, and symptoms of trauma.

6. Play Some Music.

It doesn’t matter what kind of music you listen to. You may want something upbeat and jazzy. You may want something soothing. Either way, music has the ability to shift our moods.

Make it loud!!

7. Eat Good Food.

Food is fuel for the body, like gas for your car. You want premium unleaded. This means eating high-quality food loaded with nutrition minus the byproducts.

Organic whole foods are always best. It doesn’t have to be gourmet. Eat an apple with nut butter! Make a smoothie. Have a salad. These aren’t complicated meals.

8. Create Art.

Want more than an apple? Go cook, if you like. Putting ingredients together is a form of art. So is writing, sewing, coloring, woodworking, banging on a drum, etc.

You don’t have to be a maestro. You just want to express yourself through some creative form.

9. Get Outside.

Nature is extremely healing. Absorb Mother Earth’s abundant blessings, such as cloud watching, or yep- tree hugging. Don’t laugh, it works.

Feel silly hugging a tree, then sit under one while it supports your back.

Being with the elements is essential to our health. Too many people stay inside chained to their devices.

10. Play with Dirt.

Garden or make a mud pie. Playing with dirt is beneficial. Don’t believe what anyone tells you about germs. Dirt is loaded with good bacteria and nutrients.

If you want to get fancy with the Earth’s terra firma, take up pottery or build sandcastles.

11. Contact Another Human Being.

In today’s world, this is so easy. We have phones to talk- remember talking?

You can write letters. Envelopes and stamps are still available!

Putting pen to paper allows us to express ourselves more fluently. without interruption. It’s just you talking- no one judging or throwing in unwanted advice.

Shoot someone a text and at lightning speed, you have reached out to someone.

Don’t feel like chatting. Go watch a play or sit at the park and watch children laughing on the see-saws. Human interaction is crucial for our souls, even if it is just observing them.

12. Get a Pet or Borrow One

Humans can be hard to deal with at times, but animals will love you unconditionally.

Even having a fishbowl will bring you some joy, as you watch your little goldfish swim to the top, excited to see you and those yummy flakes you feed them.

The Blues are a sign you are human.

Being sad occasionally is normal. Don’t judge yourself. Don’t feel you have to be happy. Forget all the “be positive” fluff. It’s too much pressure.

Allow yourself to be human. Humans FEEL! However, if your blues turn into chronic depression, please seek professional help.
