When the magician saw Princess Badinu Butoru so beautifully dressed, and treated him with such a pleasant manner, instead of the melancholy look of the last few days, he could not help but feel the possibility of his wish being fulfilled, and his desire for love and possession grew with him.
Princess Badinu Butoru put on a smile, sat the magician down by her side, and said kindly to him:
'My dear! Would you like to come over tonight and have a drink with me? I was not willing to endure this lonely, year-long life any longer. I believe what you said yesterday. My father must have killed Aladdin for me. Therefore, he will not rise from the grave to see me again. You must not be surprised at my sudden transformation today. Because now, except you, I have no other person to rely on, so I am determined to commit to you, let you replace Aladdin, to be my life partner. I hope you will grant my request to come to me tonight, and we will drink and be merry together. I have wine here, but it's all from home. I hope I can taste the wine here, because I hear that African wine is the best."
Princess Badinu Butoru's sweet words made the magician's heart go wild, and he said cheerfully: "You can do all you wish and command. I have a jar of local wine at home that has been in the ground for eight years and is in good condition. Just wait a minute now. I'll go home at once and fetch the wine. I'll be back soon."
Princess Badinu Butoru, who was very sociable, was able to deal with things, so she took the magician one step further and said: "My dear, why should you go yourself? When you go away, I shall feel lonely again. I might as well have one of the eunuchs fetch it, and you stay with me and never go away."
These words pleased the magician, and he said: "Princess! Where the altar of wine is buried is unknown to all but me. I'll be there and back as soon as I can." "Said the magician and went away.
After a while, the magician returned to the princess with wine.
The princess thanked her and said, "My dear, you have gone out of your way to take care of me.
"My dear! What a pleasure it is to serve you, and what trouble is there!"
After greeting each other politely, they sat down at the table.
Princess Buttoru took a glass of wine which the maid had poured out for them, and gave it to the magician. She took another glass at the same time, and then she drank it to him, wishing him a long life. The magician quickly blessed her to be young and beautiful and happy forever, and emptied the glass at one draught. He did not know that from now on he was unwittingly caught in the net that Aladdin and the Princess had thrown open for him. The sorcerer fondly thought that the princess Badinu Budoru was completely subservient to him, and was very pleased. While he was ogling the princess with his eyes, he was drinking so much that he forgot almost everything else in the world.
Princess Badinu Butoru ate and drank with the magician all the time, and when she saw that he was a little drunk, she said to him: "There is a custom where I come from. I wonder if it is the same here?"
'Oh, what customs?
"When two lovers drink wine, to show their love, they should exchange wine glasses and each drink a cup. This is called cross wine, even if the two parties have committed to life."
