The wind howls outside, rattling against the windows as the clock strikes midnight. The house is exceptionally cool, and the shadows seem to stretch and twist unnaturally in the flickering candlelight. You wrap yourself in a blanket, trying to ignore the growing doubt eating away at you.
A sudden knock on the door sends a shock through your body. Who can make this hour? You hesitate, your heart pounding, before finally deciding to watch. As you approach the door, the door stops. You look into the hole but see nothing but darkness.
Back in the house, you hear the faint sound of footsteps above. Your blood runs cold. No one should come here. Grabbing a flashlight, you carefully climb the creaking stairs. The air cools with every step, and you can see your breath in the harsh light.
At the top of the stairs, you will see your bedroom door open. When you summon every ounce of courage you push it open. The room is empty, but there is still an ominous chill in the air. You notice a piece of paper on the bed. You stop with a shaking hand.
In shaky children's handwriting, it says, "I see you."
The flashlight flickers and dies, plunging you into darkness. Panic sets in as you struggle to get to the door, but before you get there, it closes. A cold breath eats down your throat and a cold whisper whispers in your ear: “You are never alone”.
In the darkness, you see the shadows alive, circling you.
