An old man, sitting atop of the Eiffel Tower, is holding an envelope that his wife left behind before the Zombies attacked. He can smell her scent that reminds him of the tulips he always brought home to her. He remembers that moment now.
Alas, she was turned at the last full moon due to a Zombie bite. Only a few hours until she would forget who she is due to bloodlust.
"Go on and survive Jim. Live. I will see you again soon my love. I have loved you since I laid my eyes on you in 1945," She said to him.
"I will, Maryanne. I will," He replied to her, with tears in his eyes.
Jim got on top of the motorcycle and left his wife at the beautiful sycamore tree.
He must survive for both himself and his teenage son and for humanity.
He must be able to go back to the Eiffel tower for safety.
James, his son, sits next to his father.
"I know you miss Mom. I miss her too. It's best to not read the letter. Who knows what that may stir up for you? I need you." James said to Jim.
"I have to read this James. Your mother would beat me in Heaven if I hadn't even read a single sentence." Jim said.
"I know Pa. I just want you to not die of heart break." James replied.
He opened the envelope to find two letters and began to read the one that was meant for him specifically. He always loved her prefect handwriting, but this time, the handwriting was a bit shaky.
Dear Jim,
I keep in mind every moment from the start of our great love. How we met was truly fate. I wasn't ready that day when we crossed paths. I remember slamming my plain grey Chevrolet Truck into your bright citrus orange Ford Pickup. I was getting out of my car and you did the same, screaming at each other until we both realized we both were at fault. Both of us, young and naive that summer of 1945 was incredibly memorable. I thought that I made myself a fool to you, but I am happy of that mistake. I remember bringing you home to my parents and they adored you. My parents knew I made a good choice dating you and eventually marrying you. I fell in love with you more.
I recollect our wedding day and our adventurous honeymoon. When I walked down that aisle, the look on your face made my heart swell! I hadn't known the plans for the honeymoon because you had insisted that you would work on that yourself. I feared opening my entire self to you, but you were gentle and understanding the first night we spent together. I became brave in your embrace. I fell in love with you even more.
The day I found out I was pregnant with our first-born child, my heart swelled. We had tried for so many years. Seeing James in your arms, after giving birth and the nurses cleaned off the placenta and blood, made me love you even more than before. James was our miracle child and I am grateful to be the mother of our child. Be sure to remind him every day for me.
Overtime I continued to fall for you, multiple times in multiple ways.
I love you Jim. Can't wait to see you again. Protect our miracle.
With love, Maryanne.
Jim cried silently after reading the letter. Maryanne truly loved him after all this time and fell for him multiple times in their marriage. Even after struggling with having children, she never stopped loving him. James was truly their miracle child that brought both closer.
Jim looked at James as James watches for his reaction. James relaxes and goes to his father to hug him. They have a moment of silence.
Both, James and Jim look down the Eiffel tower to see the hordes of zombies and other survivors battling the zombies.
"Can I use a gun to shoot at the zombies?" James asks.
"Eh. Why not?" Jim says. Jim hands the shotgun to his son.
The future looks bright and the road looks long. Jim will teach his son to protect himself and others. Escaping zombies is one thing, but thriving and defending is another.
