Evelyn had always been drawn to forgotten places, but the night she entered Black Hollow Orphanage, everything changed. The orphanage had been abandoned for decades, standing silent and untouched at the edge of a quiet forest. Rumor had it that the place was haunted—not by ghosts, but by shadows. Locals whispered that the children who once lived there vanished without a trace, leaving only the empty halls and an eerie silence that clung to the air like a fog.

Determined to explore, Evelyn brought nothing but a flashlight and a notebook, hoping to document the mystery. As she stepped inside, the air thickened, and a strange hush settled around her, as if even the wind dared not disturb the silence. Her footsteps echoed in the empty rooms, where broken toys and crumbling beds lay scattered, untouched for years. But the deeper she went, the quieter it became, until she could hear her own heartbeat pounding in her ears.

She turned a corner and felt something—a flicker of movement in the shadows. At first, she thought it was a trick of the light, but then she saw them: dark, human-like shapes lurking just out of reach, silently watching her every move. She whispered, “Hello?” But her voice fell flat, swallowed by the silence.

One by one, the shadows began to close in, gathering in the corners, moving with impossible speed and unnatural grace. Evelyn’s heart raced as she backed away, only to find herself cornered in a small, cold room. Her flashlight flickered, and for the briefest moment, she saw their faces—hollow, childlike, with eyes that glowed faintly, as if they carried memories of some long-lost agony.

She tried to scream, but no sound escaped her lips. The shadows pressed closer, and with each passing second, her own voice seemed to slip away. Finally, all that remained was silence.

The townsfolk never saw Evelyn again, but if you stand outside Black Hollow Orphanage on a quiet night, some say you can hear a faint whisper—a voice that’s almost human, almost familiar—echoing through the darkness.
