It was a night drenched in darkness, with the moon hiding behind thick clouds. The trio—Arun, Vijay, and Karthick—were driving through a remote countryside, looking for an adventure to break the monotony of their usual city life. The road stretched endlessly, bordered by dense forests that seemed to whisper secrets of their own.

Vijay, who had been scrolling through his phone, suddenly grinned. "Guys, there's an old manor just a few miles from here. It’s called Blackwood Manor. Rumor has it that it's haunted."

Arun rolled his eyes. "You and your ghost stories, Vijay. There’s no such thing as ghosts."

But Karthick, who had been quiet the entire drive, spoke up. "Maybe. But sometimes, places have… memories."

Curiosity piqued, they decided to check it out. They turned onto a narrow, unpaved road leading deeper into the forest. The trees grew taller, their branches reaching out like skeletal fingers. After what seemed like an eternity, the manor came into view.

Blackwood Manor was a grand yet decaying structure, standing isolated amidst overgrown foliage. Its windows were shattered, the paint peeling off its walls. Yet, something about it seemed alive, as if it were waiting for them.

They parked the car and approached the mansion. The air around them felt colder, and a strange silence fell upon the group.

"Let's just take a quick look and head back," Arun suggested, his voice betraying a hint of unease.

Vijay, always the bold one, pushed open the heavy front door. It creaked loudly, as if protesting their entry. Inside, the manor was a labyrinth of dark hallways and dusty rooms, filled with cobwebs and decaying furniture. The air smelled of mold and something far more sinister, like old blood.

As they explored, the atmosphere grew increasingly oppressive. The shadows seemed to move on their own, twisting into grotesque shapes that vanished when looked at directly. Karthick felt a chill run down his spine. He knew something was terribly wrong here.

In one of the rooms, they found an old diary. The pages were yellowed and brittle, but they could still make out the words. It belonged to a man named William Blackwood, the last owner of the manor. The entries grew more and more frantic, detailing his descent into madness. He wrote of voices whispering in the dark, of shadows that followed him, and of a presence that grew stronger with each passing day.

As they read, the temperature in the room dropped further, and they could see their breath in the air. The manor felt like it was closing in on them, the walls pulsating with an unnatural energy.

Suddenly, the door slammed shut behind them, and the lights flickered, plunging them into darkness. A low, guttural growl echoed through the halls, followed by the sound of heavy footsteps.

"Did you hear that?" Vijay whispered, his bravado now replaced with fear.

Arun tried to open the door, but it wouldn't budge. "It's locked! How is that possible?"

Karthick, who had been standing near the window, turned pale. "We're not alone," he whispered, pointing to the shadows in the corner of the room. They were moving, coalescing into a humanoid figure.

The shadow grew taller, its form becoming more defined. It had no face, only a void where its eyes should be. Yet, they could feel it staring at them, feeding off their fear.

Vijay, in a panic, grabbed a nearby chair and threw it at the shadow. It passed right through, hitting the wall with a dull thud. The shadow let out a deafening scream, a sound filled with rage and sorrow, shaking the very foundations of the manor.

The lights flickered back on, and the door swung open with a bang. Without a second thought, they ran, not daring to look back. The manor seemed to twist and turn on its own, the hallways shifting like a maze trying to trap them.

Finally, they burst through the front door, gasping for breath. They didn’t stop running until they reached their car. As they drove away, the manor loomed behind them, its dark windows watching them leave.

But as they thought they were safe, Karthick noticed something in the rearview mirror. The shadowy figure was standing in the middle of the road, its hollow eyes fixed on them. And then, just as quickly as it appeared, it vanished.

None of them spoke a word on the drive back to the city, but they all knew the truth. Something had followed them. Blackwood Manor was not just a place of old memories—it was a place of evil. And it wasn’t done with them yet.

As they reached the city limits, the radio in their car crackled to life, and a cold, familiar voice whispered, "I’ll see you soon…"

The shadows had found new prey.
