The Night He Came Back

Knocking on Death's Door

By livinglife11Published 3 years ago 5 min read

John and his wife, Lily, had been living in their house for almost a year when the new neighbors moved in next door. At first, they seemed like any other ordinary family. They would wave and exchange pleasantries over the fence. But as time went on, John and Lily began to notice that something was not quite right with their new neighbors.

For one, they never seemed to leave their house during the day. Whenever John or Lily looked out their window, they would see the curtains drawn tightly shut, blocking any sunlight from entering their neighbor's home. At night, strange noises would come from the house, like muffled screams and thumping sounds.

John tried to ignore it, but he couldn't shake the feeling that something was off about their neighbors. He mentioned it to Lily, and she agreed that something was definitely wrong.

One day, while John was outside mowing the lawn, he noticed that his neighbor's window was slightly ajar. He couldn't resist the urge to take a peek inside. As he peered through the window, he saw a woman lying on a bed, her face twisted in agony. Next to her stood a tall, shadowy figure that seemed to be hovering over her.

John couldn't believe what he was seeing. He rushed back into his house and told Lily what he had seen. They both knew that they had to investigate further, so they decided to take a closer look at their neighbor's house.

As they walked up to the front door, they noticed that it was slightly ajar. They cautiously pushed it open, and the first thing they noticed was the stench. It was a putrid smell, like rotting meat mixed with sewage.

They made their way through the darkened hallway, using the light from their cell phones to guide them. As they turned the corner, they saw the source of the smell. It was a room filled with garbage bags piled up to the ceiling. Flies buzzed around them, and maggots wriggled on the floor.

Lily gagged and turned away, but John pressed on. He knew that they had to find out what was going on. As they continued through the house, they found more and more evidence of something sinister.

There were strange symbols etched into the walls, and strange objects that John couldn't even begin to identify. They came across a room that seemed to be used for some kind of ritual, with candles and a strange altar in the center.

Suddenly, they heard a noise from upstairs. It sounded like someone was shuffling around, and they could hear muffled whispers. John motioned for Lily to stay where she was while he investigated.

As he climbed the stairs, his heart pounding in his chest, he saw a door that was slightly ajar. He slowly pushed it open, and what he saw made him want to scream.

The room was filled with dolls. Hundreds of dolls, all staring at him with lifeless eyes. He felt like they were watching him, judging him, and he couldn't shake the feeling that they were alive.

Suddenly, he heard footsteps coming up the stairs behind him. He turned around to see his neighbor standing there, a look of pure hatred in his eyes.

John tried to run, but it was too late. The neighbor caught him and dragged him into a darkened room. John could barely see anything, but he could feel something sharp pressing against his neck.

He knew that this was the end. The mysterious neighbor had finally revealed his true intentions, and John was about to become his next victim.

As John took his last breath, he knew that he and Lily should have never moved into this house. They had unknowingly moved next door to a monster, and now it was too late to escape.

Lily waited for John to return, but as the minutes turned into hours, she became worried. She tried calling his phone, but it went straight to voicemail. She knew that something was wrong, so she decided to investigate.

She made her way to the neighbor's house and cautiously pushed open the front door. The putrid smell hit her like a wave, and she had to cover her mouth to keep from gagging.

As she made her way through the house, she could hear strange noises coming from upstairs. She tried to remain as quiet as possible, but the floorboards creaked under her feet.

When she reached the top of the stairs, she saw the door to the doll room slightly open. She knew that John would never leave a door open like that, so she cautiously pushed it open.

What she saw made her scream.

John's lifeless body was lying on the floor, with blood pooling around his neck. His eyes were wide open in terror, and his face was twisted in agony.

Lily backed away slowly, but she was too late. The neighbor had heard her screams and was already making his way towards her.

She turned and ran, but she could hear his footsteps pounding on the floor behind her. She didn't know where to go, so she ran into the ritual room and barricaded the door with whatever she could find.

She could hear the neighbor pounding on the door, trying to break through. She knew that she had to find a way out before it was too late.

She looked around the room, and her eyes fell on the altar in the center. It was covered in strange symbols, and she had no idea what they meant. But she knew that it was her only chance.

She frantically searched through the drawers in the room, looking for something, anything that could help her. And then she saw it - a small knife, hidden among the candles.

She knew that it wasn't much, but it was all she had. She grabbed the knife and waited for the door to burst open.

When it did, she charged at the neighbor with all her might. She slashed at him with the knife, catching him in the arm. He howled in pain and stumbled back, giving her enough time to run out of the room and down the stairs.

She burst through the front door and ran out into the street, screaming for help. It wasn't until she reached the police station that she realized that she had left John's body behind.

The police investigated the neighbor's house, but they found nothing. It was as if he had vanished into thin air. Lily was never the same after that night. She moved away from the house, but she could never escape the memory of what had happened. She knew that the neighbor was still out there, somewhere, and that he would never stop until he found her.
