The Never Died

A Tale of Immortality and Vengeance

By Sarwar ZebPublished 8 months ago 5 min read

Introduction

In the forgotten town of Eldermoor, where shadows whispered and the wind carried ancient secrets, a legend lived — or rather, never died. His name was Kael.

For over a thousand years, Kael roamed the earth, untouched by time, death, or disease. Empires rose and crumbled to dust. Oceans swallowed proud cities whole. The sky darkened with the smoke of endless wars. Yet Kael remained. Immortal. Cursed. Alone.

They called him The Never Died. Hunters tracked him through centuries, hoping to steal his secret. Kings feared his knowledge; for Kael had seen their ancestors fall. Scholars offered riches for a glimpse of his ancient eyes. But Kael wanted only one thing: revenge.

Centuries ago, the Order of the Crimson Sun betrayed him. Once their fiercest warrior, Kael had bled for their cause. In return, they sacrificed him in a forbidden ritual that tore the life from his veins, granting him eternal existence — at a terrible cost. Everyone he loved turned to dust while he lingered on, a prisoner of endless time.

Now, in the 21st century, the world glittered with steel and glass, but the same rot festered beneath. Kael felt it in his bones — the Order had returned, cloaked in modern corporations and global elites. Their tendrils reached into governments, banks, and armies. Their influence poisoned the world, just as they once poisoned his soul.

Chapter One: Echoes in Eldermoor

The streets of Eldermoor were empty as Kael walked through the ruins of his birthplace. The town had long been abandoned, a casualty of shifting trade routes and whispered curses. But Kael felt the pull of destiny here, in the cracked stones and overgrown fields.

Beneath the old church, hidden by centuries of debris, lay a secret chamber — the Sanctum of the First Flame. Kael descended the broken steps, his fingers tracing symbols carved in languages no living man could read.

At the heart of the sanctum, he found it: a fragment of obsidian, pulsing with dark light. The Shard of Eternum — one of the seven relics that bound his curse.

His fingers closed around it, and visions assaulted him. Faces long dead. Flames consuming temples. The crimson sun rising over a battlefield soaked in blood. And a voice, cold and cruel:

"We gave you eternity, Kael. Now come and claim your vengeance."

Chapter Two: The Crimson Order Rises

Far away, in a gleaming tower in New York City, Lucien Marrow, CEO of Crimson Corp, stared at the same symbols etched into his office walls. A direct descendant of the Order’s founders, Lucien knew Kael was stirring.

"Activate the Sentinels," Lucien commanded his assistant. "The Never Died is on the move. He cannot reach the remaining relics."

Crimson Corp’s public face was philanthropy and technology, but beneath the surface, it was the modern mask of the ancient Order. Their true mission had always been control — over life, death, and the eternal cycle.

But Kael threatened that cycle. If he destroyed the relics, the Order’s power would crumble. And Lucien Marrow would rather see the world burn than let that happen.

Chapter Three: Allies in the Shadows

Kael’s journey led him across continents. From the catacombs beneath Paris, where he fought off mercenaries in black armor, to the sands of Egypt, where a hidden temple held the second relic — the Heart of Ashur.

But he wasn’t alone.

In Istanbul, he encountered Liora, a rogue historian who had pieced together the Order’s dark history. She carried scars — both visible and hidden — from her own encounters with the Crimson Sun.

"You’re not the only one they’ve cursed," Liora said, her eyes fierce. "I lost my brother to their experiments. I’ll help you end them."

Reluctantly, Kael accepted her aid. For the first time in centuries, he felt the flicker of something he thought long dead: hope.

Together, they uncovered lost truths — underground cities swallowed by time, secret societies manipulating world events, and ancient relics scattered across the globe. Each step brought them closer to the final confrontation.

Chapter Four: Blood and Fire

The trail led them back to Eldermoor, where the final ritual would be held. The Order had chosen this cursed town to complete their dark work, using the energy of the relics to unleash a new era of dominion.

Storm clouds gathered as Kael and Liora infiltrated the Order’s hidden fortress beneath the ruins. The air crackled with dark magic, and the chanting of robed figures echoed through the stone halls.

Kael’s immortality had made him a weapon of destruction. He tore through the Order’s guards with brutal efficiency, his body healing faster than any wound could fell him. Liora, armed with stolen relics, disabled their magical wards.

At the heart of the fortress, Lucien Marrow awaited. Clad in ceremonial armor, he sneered at Kael.

"You think you can end us? You are our creation!" Lucien hissed. "Without the Order, you are nothing but a relic yourself."

Kael’s eyes burned with ancient fury. "You gave me eternity. Now I give you death."

The battle was cataclysmic. Magic clashed with steel, and the very ground shook. Lucien wielded dark energy drawn from the relics, while Kael fought with the rage of a thousand years.

In the end, it was Liora who turned the tide, shattering the relics with a forbidden spell that consumed her own life force. As the final relic broke, the ritual collapsed, and the fortress crumbled around them.

Chapter Five: The Price of Freedom

Kael emerged from the ruins, battered and bleeding — but alive. For the first time in a millennium, he felt pain that did not instantly fade. His immortality was breaking.

He found Liora, her body frail but still breathing. She had survived, though the cost was great.

The Order of the Crimson Sun was destroyed, their relics shattered, their leaders dead. The world above remained ignorant of the battle that had raged beneath their feet, but the balance of power had shifted forever.

Kael stood on the cliffs overlooking Eldermoor, the wind tugging at his ragged cloak. The curse that had bound him for so long was unraveling.

Death, long denied, now waited for him. But Kael smiled. He had avenged his loved ones. He had broken the chains.

And for the first time, The Never Died felt alive.

Epilogue: A New Dawn

Months later, rumors spread of a shadowy figure dismantling corrupt organizations across the globe. Some whispered that Kael still lived, a mortal man with the heart of an immortal warrior. Others claimed he had finally found peace in death.

But in the dark corners of the world, new powers stirred. The battle between light and shadow was far from over.

And somewhere, in the ruins of Eldermoor, a faint whisper echoed:

"The Never Died is coming for them first."
