Will you tell me a fictional story?
This might be fiction but you can definitely learn about the most important thing required in life and that's love.
A woman saw 3 saints in front of her house. She did not know any of them.
She said –
“Kindly come inside and have food.”
The saints replied – "Is your husband inside the house?”
Woman – “No, he has gone out.”
Saints – “Will step into the house only when he is there.”
In the evening when the woman's husband returns home, she tells him about the saints.
Husband – “Go and tell them I am home, and invite them inside the house.”
She went out and called the saints inside the house.
The saints now said – “We all don't go inside anyone's house together.”
“But why?” – the woman asked.
One of the saints replied – “My name is wealth.”
Then he pointed to the other saints and said –
“These two saints' names are 'prosperity' and 'love'.
Only one of us can come inside your house!
You go in, discuss with your family and decide which saint you want to invite.”
The woman went inside and told her husband all about this.
He was excited.
He said – “If this is the matter, let us invite wealth! Our house will then be filled with happiness.”
Wife – “I feel we should invite prosperity.”
Their daughter was in the next room. She was listening to the discussions. She came outside and said –
“I feel we should invite love. Nothing is more important.”
“You are right, we should invite love only.” – her parents agreed.
The woman went out and asked the saints –
“Who is love? Please come inside the house.”
Love started walking towards the house!
The other two saints started following love.
The surprised woman asked the saints –
“I only invited love. Why are you two also coming inside the house?”
One of the saints replied – “If you had invited prosperity or wealth, only that saint would have entered your house.
But you have invited love!
Love never walks alone.
Wherever there's love, there's prosperity and wealth. They all go hand in hand."
Read this story once, twice, thrice ...
If you like it, stay with love.
Spread love, give love and take love.
As love is the only secret to success!!!

Fantasy novels with Chinese mode is prevalent these days. You can change a pace to try some Chinese fantasy novels.
This is the website for Wuxia novels. Wuxia approximates kongfu , but it has some differences, like kongfu only have fight between men, and wuxia fight by using more things like Qi or 气 which means the visualized rule about everything enlightened by the human. And these things ruled by Qi include not only the physics phenomenon but also the biology or the humanities.
Well, I haven’t read any English fantasy novels, but I can still tell the most important difference between the eastern novels and the western novels in general. Western novels lay emphasis on behaviors and power when eastern novels concentrate on mentality and spirit. In wuxia novels, the spirit is the highest powerful weapon. If you know the Dao or 道 which means the rule of what you want to do with, then you can do what you like with it. And the Dao can only be caught by your mind, because all the rule you or everyone want to know can only be realized by your mind. These opinions have far origin from the ancient Chinese philosophy.

What science fiction story (novel, movie, etc) actually changed the world?
It is probably too early for many recent sci-fi novels to see how they may change the world. But, one role of these novels is to create the idea of a “reasonable possibility” of the event occurring in the future. A future that can be either the near future, or distant future. I think that once the idea of a reasonable possibility takes hold in the public's mind, the problem solving process begins.
From a historic prospective, two key novels by Jules Verne helped change the world: (1870), and (1873). Of these, “Around the World in 80 Days” effected the most change. I think it created the public idea that such a trip was possibly, and relatively easy to accomplish given just a few changes in travel infrastructure. The “Under the Sea” novel may have inspired the idea of submarines, and eventually, nuclear power. The first nuclear sub for the US was named the “Nautilus” in honor of Captain Nemo’s sub.
Based on Verne’s story, some newspaper editors apparently thought “it might be possible, let’s find out if it can be done. Hey Nellie, are you doing anything for the next two and a half months? Pack a [small] bag.”
Newspaper reporter Nellie Bly then completed and beat the 80 day challenge at 72 days in 1890, just 20 years after Verne’s novel.

In a similar way, the idea of a transcontinental railroad was considered to be impossible until Theodor Judah proposed a route through the Sierra Nevada mountains. It created the idea of a “reasonable possibility” of the future transcontinental railroad.
For current novels, the only set I can think of that might be affecting the world is the Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson: “Red Mars (1992)”, “Green Mars (1993)”, and “Blue Mars (1996).” The novels portray the colonization and terraforming of Mars during the next approximately 200 years. Most of the science presented is an extension of current technology. Elon Musk’s ideas about the colonization of Mars sound very similar to those of Robinson. The most eerie aspect to me at present is that Robinson’s initial colonists are termed “The First 100.” Musk’s latest rocket design is slated to carry 100 astronauts. Hmmm!?

Which is the shortest science fiction story you have read/heard?
The first man that never died was born in 2015. Of course, when he was born, he could die. But by now he has not yet died as many of us have grown accustomed to and has become the great problematic of our era.
His ambition lead him down the traditional path towards wealth. He became gargantuanly wealthy and instead of going to the moon or Mars, he decided to be the first man that lived forever.
Shortly before his birth the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had approved a weight loss implant that removed all desire to eat. This invention laid the basic groundwork for his endeavor. His idea was to insert nanobots in the body that would neutralize the effects of oxidation and generate the necessary compounds to repair telomeres. With time telomeres naturally trim away leading to death.
With this in mind, he began to think that we could tweak and repair the mind like a car, and if kept perfectly intact like a diamond watch, it could keep ticking forever.
The first prototype was developed when he was sixty years of age and it was a moderate success. K. tried it on himself first. His body was effectively neutralized to the effects of oxidation, but there were user experience issues. The body became extremely delicate with time and required fastidious nutrition. He would tire out very quickly. Skin became sagging cellophane. His thoughts became convoluted and he accepted momentary lapses of reason: complete pauses and restarts.
“It is ongoing product development. We can see from the first results of the last forty eight months, that we are effectively neutralizing the effects of oxidation. We are working very hard to solve some of the key concerns: skin sagging, concentration and digestion.”
✥ ✥ ✥
The first prototype rendered you unable to exceed a certain combustion level in your being, preventing you from engaging to in exciting physical activity. You could do a bit - tempered sex was fine, mild hikes and walks, but high energy activity such as the sports of the 21st century (soccer, football, basketball, etc) or even sprinting and calisthenics were out of the question even under the best life subscription services.
Regardless of its initial flaws,it was picked up by some of the top 0.01% percent at a purchasing price of $5 billion a life subscription service, with recurring $20 billion life subscription fee every 100 years. This gave K. and these early adopters fuel to live forever.
And here came the beauty of the life subscription. The ones that were able to purchase it initially were able to pay for the ability to continue producing. The high cost to live forever actually gave meaning to the races that had taken place since Carnegie and Rockefeller, it was a matter of who could jump on the game to live the longest at the best state of mind and keep it for the longest. For example, when Bankioff’s son first became eternal he was making 1 billion a year, and within the first 100 years of subscription, and business making steady growth he was able to build 1 billion billion dollars allowing himself to live forever.
In 2125, K. and Bankioff’s son signed the largest corporate partnership in the history of world forming Life Force, the leading life subscription service in the world. Banking's was the 21% owner and acted as CEO. K owned 19% and was CTO. 60% went to private investors
