The Last Transmission
In 2103, a Mars colony loses contact — and what they left behind is terrifying.
By the year 2103, humanity had established its first permanent colony on Mars — New Dawn Base — a shining beacon of hope for interplanetary survival. Equipped with the latest technology and a team of fifty scientists, engineers, and explorers, the colony’s goal was to terraform Mars and search for signs of past or present life.
Dr. Arun Patel, a geologist, was among the first settlers. The early months were routine — drilling, sampling, and monitoring atmospheric changes. But then strange anomalies began to appear.
Power systems fluctuated inexplicably, robotic drones vanished, and shadowy figures were reported near the colony perimeter at night — though security footage showed nothing.
The most disturbing were the transmissions.
Unintelligible voices, static-filled whispers, and strange symbols appeared on the colony’s communication channels.
One evening, Dr. Patel received a personal message on his terminal, composed entirely of symbols — glowing faintly on the screen. As he tried to decode it, his mind filled with chilling visions: twisting tunnels beneath Mars’ surface, ancient alien structures, and eyes watching him from the dark.
The colony’s leader, Commander Elena Vasquez, ordered an immediate investigation. A team descended into newly discovered caverns beneath the base, guided by Dr. Patel’s readings.
What they found defied belief.
Massive alien architecture — walls covered with shifting runes, corridors stretching into endless darkness, and a low hum vibrating through the rocks.
Suddenly, the air grew heavy. The explorers felt an overwhelming presence — a consciousness older than humanity itself.
The cavern began to pulse, and shadows moved with terrifying speed.
One by one, the team members vanished.
Back at New Dawn, panic spread as communications with the team ceased.
Days later, a final transmission was received — a frantic warning from Commander Vasquez:
"Do not send help. We awakened something. It is... watching. Waiting. The darkness is alive."
After this message, all contact was lost.
The colony was declared lost, and Mars was quarantined.
But back on Earth, late at night, technicians monitoring Mars channels swear they hear faint whispers — calling their names from the void.
The Last Transmission had not ended.
sci-fi horror, Mars colony, alien ruins, psychological terror, lost transmission
