The Jinn’s Vengeance:

A 15-Year-Old Curse That Ended in Tragedy

By LilyPublished 10 months ago 13 min read

This incident was collected by Ramzan Bhai from his maternal uncle. His mother and maternal uncles, they are four siblings in total, and Ramzan Bhai's mother is the youngest. The rest of his maternal uncles are older. The story mainly dates back to his maternal grandfather's time.

At that time, his maternal grandfather used to be an Imam in a mosque in a village in Cumilla. He didn't mention the name of the place because he didn't have permission to share it. His maternal grandfather had just finished his studies at the Madrasa and was working as an Imam in a mosque. He wasn't having too much trouble with his Imam duties and was having a pretty good time. The people around him were also very friendly, so there weren't any problems. And he knew quite a few Ruqyah methods from his teacher, various techniques for exorcism. Because of this, he would do light exorcisms. If someone came to him with a problem, he would work with what he knew, but he wouldn't give any amulets. That's how the days were passing.

Two years passed. Since he had finished his studies and was working as an Imam in a mosque, and was also of marriageable age, his family back home proposed marriage. He agreed, since his guardians were suggesting it. So, they started looking for a bride for his maternal grandfather. By the grace of God, a good girl was found. The wedding was completed smoothly. A year after the wedding, the eldest maternal uncle of Ramzan Bhai was born, bringing light to his maternal grandfather's house. A year or so later, another maternal uncle was born. In the meantime, his maternal grandfather lost his job at the mosque. Then, wondering what to do, he came back home from Cumilla. He was thinking about what to do next because he hadn't learned any other skills. He had started working as an Imam after studying at the Madrasa.

So, after coming to the area, he thought about doing something different, especially business. And the work he did of warding off evil spirits, he continued doing that. He didn't have any problem with it; he was doing it regularly. Even at home, when people came to him, he would help as much as he could. In the meantime, Grandpa had a few more children, so he had a total of four children. He sent his two eldest sons to a madrasa (Islamic school) for a good education.

Then, suddenly, one time, a complaint reached Grandpa from a madrasa teacher. The teacher complained that his son hadn't been to madrasa for almost 15 days. He asked if he was sick or what was going on, and why Grandpa hadn't informed them, as they were worried about whether he was coming or not.

Hearing this, Grandpa was shocked. He said, "What are you saying, sir? He goes to madrasa every morning. I wake him up myself, and he comes back from madrasa too." Then the teacher said, "No, he hasn't been to madrasa today either. Did you wake him up today?" He said, "Yes, I did." Then the teacher said, "You must be mistaken. I'm certain he hasn't gone to madrasa. You should talk to him a bit, see where he goes. He's a child. Maybe he tells you he's going to madrasa but goes out to play, or maybe there's some other problem. You should talk to him a bit."

Then Grandpa came home. The eldest uncle hadn't arrived home yet. He came at the usual time. Then Grandpa grabbed him and said, "Hey, I hear you haven't been going to madrasa for 15 days?" Then Uncle said, "No, I go to madrasa every day. Why would the teacher say that?" After hearing this, Grandpa grabbed the eldest uncle and gave him a severe beating. After being beaten, he said something that made everyone worried. So, the elder uncle says that he goes out for the Madrasa every day, and before going to the Madrasa, there's a crematorium on the way. After going past that, for some reason, he feels very sleepy. He can't think of anything else. Then he goes to a place and falls asleep. When he wakes up, he sees it's already evening, and then he comes home. He can't say what happens during this sleep. As soon as Grandpa heard this, he became suspicious that the boy was definitely telling the truth, and from his behavior or physical changes in these 15 days...besides, he used to do Jharafuk (spiritual healing). He could understand, even by looking at the eyes, if there was any problem. But he hadn't paid that much attention in these 15 days. Then what happens is that Grandpa says, "Okay, you don't need to go to Madrasa tomorrow, you stay home." Then this Grandpa tells Grandma to keep an eye on him, and if there's any problem, inform him immediately. At that time, Grandpa was doing some small business, a grocery store business. He used to do the grocery business. Sometimes he used to keep some things in many places, like "Rakhi maal" (goods to be stored). Rakhi maal means things that are kept and sold when the season comes, like onions, garlic, and some other things. He used to do Rakhi maal business, the grocery business at that time. He had a shop too. So, that day, this elder uncle had lunch. Shortly after having lunch, the elder uncle vomited. But the thing is, what he vomited wasn't the food he had eaten. What came out made Grandma very scared because he vomited fresh blood, I mean, fresh blood came out with his vomit. More terrifying than hematemesis (vomiting blood), I mean, there was no water present, only blood. As soon as Grandma saw this, she got very scared, and Grandma also noticed that something black was coming out in the blood.

Then, the grandmother, seeing this, understood that it was actually coal. She quickly informed the grandfather. Upon hearing this news, the grandfather immediately arrived. He performed some rituals in his own way. The grandfather realized that there would be no physical improvement because she had a complex problem that he didn't know how to treat. It wasn't within his expertise. He then understood that a real problem had occurred, which was why she hadn't been able to go to the madrasa for 15 days. He wondered what to do next. His teacher, who lived not too far away, just a few villages away, was an Imam. He quickly went to his teacher and spoke to him about the matter, explaining everything in detail: how she hadn't been going to the madrasa for 15 days and then today this incident happened. After hearing this, his teacher said, "Look, from what I've heard, it doesn't sound good to me. Still, give me a few days. Keep an eye on her. There's no need for her to go outside. She should stay at home now. Going outside will make the problem worse. I'll look into it and see what can be done or if I can find any information. Maybe my jinn can bring me some information." Two days later, early in the morning, his teacher didn't send for the grandfather; he himself rushed to the grandfather's house, almost breathless. The grandfather was quite worried to see his teacher arriving at his house, wondering where to seat him and what to do. Then his teacher said, "My dear, there's no need for you to be so worried. Listen carefully to what I have to say. I've been trying for two days with my jinn, but they haven't been able to find anything. After two days, my jinn came and said, 'Sir, don't get involved in this matter because we can't find any clue. There must be some kind of trouble that we can't penetrate, or we can't get any information. And if it becomes such a deep problem, we won't even have the power to rescue you, since we can't even bring back any news.'"

So, if you get caught up in this trouble, how will I get you out of it? Therefore, don't get involved. Go to that house and tell them to seek help from someone better. And at the same time, they should pray and cry to Allah Ta'ala because we don't have anything more to offer. The Imam (Huzur) came and said this, he came and said this, and he also said that he had another dream that night. After finishing dinner and falling asleep, he saw a shadow figure in his dream, waking him up and saying, "Oh, Imam, do you think you are too big for yourself? How much knowledge do you possess that you dare to interfere in my affairs? You sent your people, but they couldn't gather any information. So, you can understand what I am. Don't try to collect any information about me or interfere in this matter. If you do, I will annihilate you, your disciples, and your entire family. I am telling you this in advance." Immediately after that, the Imam woke up. He screamed. His wife was sleeping beside him, and she jumped up in fright, asking what happened. Then the Imam said he had a nightmare. But he didn't tell his wife anything more about it. In the morning, after praying Fajr, he rushed out. First, the Jinn forbade it at night, then he slept and had a dream – it was all a terrifying situation. When he felt it was necessary to tell this information, when he said these things, then Nana (maternal grandfather) became very worried about what to do, what to do. What is the solution to this problem? Nana was very worried. It's not like Nana was very old. He got married at the age of 25 or 26, and he had four children in quick succession. When this problem happened, Nana was probably 33 or 35 years old at most, something like that.

So, in the meantime, news came that there was a very good religious leader in Sylhet, and they decided to take the eldest uncle to him. A microbus was arranged to take him to Sylhet. They set off, with the grandmother accompanying them. Suddenly, on the way, the grandfather suffered a stroke and died inside the vehicle. First, there's the sick child, and on top of that, her husband died in the car. And the grandmother, being a woman who grew up in a village, was completely overwhelmed and didn't know what to do in that situation. She couldn't take her son to a traditional healer, and her husband was in this state. So, she told the driver to turn the car around and go back to the village. They went to the village, and the grandfather was buried with proper rites. Meanwhile, the eldest son was in this condition. The grandmother didn't know what to do; she was completely at a loss. Now, what should she do? The son's condition was deteriorating day by day; he was becoming very ill. She consulted doctors, and the doctors said, "We can't diagnose what's wrong with your son. We don't understand why he's having these problems." Now, the grandmother had no hope left. So, every day in her prayers, she cried out to Allah, begging for help, saying, "Allah, I have no one to help me but you. Please help me find a solution." In the meantime, her son's condition became so bad that he couldn't even get out of bed. It was a terrible state, like a living corpse lying there. Allah actually answered the grandmother's prayers; I'll tell you how. One morning, the grandmother was doing housework when suddenly a mendicant, a beggar, came and said, "Mother, I haven't eaten for two days; please give me some food." Then, the grandmother noticed that even though the mendicant's clothes were dirty, his face was quite beautiful and radiant. So, the grandmother gave him whatever she had in the house to eat. After finishing his meal, the mendicant smiled and said, "Don't worry, mother. Allah will solve your problem. If someone prays to Allah from the heart, their prayers will not go unanswered. Your son will get better, Inshallah." The grandmother wondered, "How does this mendicant know about my son's problem? I didn't tell him anything."

Then the Fakir said, "Hearing my words, you are wondering how I knew about your son. Listen, I came here knowing all the information. You could say Allah himself sent me. Now, I will tell you something terrible, listen carefully. No one else is responsible for your son's bad situation, your husband is responsible." Hearing this, the woman's eyes widened in shock. Then the Fakir slowly started to say, "Listen, about 15 years ago, your husband hadn't yet learned Ruqyah properly, he had only learned a little bit. At that time, a family came to your husband with a Jinn-related problem. Two Jinns had possessed their son. Your husband was young, he didn't understand much. Your husband performed exorcism on the boy, and the two Jinns were brothers. One of the Jinns was very young, a child, and the boy who was possessed was also a child. Your husband didn't perform the type of exorcism or Ruqyah that was needed, instead, he performed a Ruqyah that the child Jinn couldn't withstand, and it died right there. The older brother of that child Jinn saw this and became extremely angry. In his anger, your husband started the process of trapping that Jinn in a bottle. Just before being trapped, the Jinn said, 'Cleric, you are young, you haven't learned Ruqyah yet. You don't know where to do what. Shouldn't you have summoned us to someone and listened to our side of the story? Why did you directly perform Ruqyah on us? Did we come to this boy with any bad intentions? This boy is young, my little brother likes to play with him, so I also come to see my little brother, to stay with my little brother, because other Jinns might come and harm us.' And due to its effects, the boy has some physical problems."

"It's temporary and the little guy would have gotten better anyway, so why didn't you just call us and listen to our side? We wouldn't have harmed you. But you started the Jin exorcism right away and killed my younger brother. You will definitely pay for this. After all this, what did your husband do? He put that Jin in a bottle too and gave it to a fisherman, who threw it into the deep part of the river. Then 15 years passed. One day, a fisherman cast his net into the water to catch fish. After casting the net, what happened was a bottle came up in the net. The fisherman saw that there was something like a smoke or prayer shape inside the bottle. So, what did the fisherman do? He took the bottle and hit it against a piece of wood on the boat. Then what happened was the bottle broke, and right after that, the fisherman heard a voice saying, 'You will catch a lot of fish today.' And indeed, the fisherman caught a lot of fish. That Jin, after being released that night, came to your husband's dream and threatened him, saying, 'So, what are you going to do now? You couldn't keep me locked up. Now you'll understand what it's like to lose your own family members.' Since then, that Jin has possessed your son. Basically, he fed him something that is slowly destroying the things inside his body. Now, I'll try to see if I can somehow free him from this. If Allah wills, Inshallah, I'll be able to heal your son." Then, that Pir said, "Bring your son here." But it's impossible to lift that boy up; he's completely bedridden. With great difficulty, they carried the boy in their arms and brought him to the courtyard. The Fakir drew two circles. He sat inside one circle, and the boy couldn't actually be seated inside the other; he had to be laid down. After laying him down, the circles were drawn larger around him again, as it was newly required because he couldn’t sit. Then he started the exorcism. In the meantime, that Jin appeared on this uncle. After appearing, the uncle, who couldn't even sit up, suddenly sat up. Then the Fakir asked various questions, and during that question-and-answer session, it was said that the grandmother should stay far away from that place. But there weren't many people around there anyway.

Suddenly, as that Fakir (religious mendicant/exorcist) arrives, something happens suddenly, the uncle's voice changes. He speaks in a very grave voice. He's not a small child, not very old either. And then apparently, that jinn (spirit) comes and salutes the Fakir and starts saying, "Huzur (respected sir), you are a good man, why did you come here? These people are not good. This boy's father killed one of my brothers. That day I vowed that I wouldn't let him or any of his children live." Then the Huzur scolds him and says, "You were going to kill his child and end the whole family, that's what I see. And you already killed your brother's murderer, meaning this boy's father, by causing a stroke in the car. Why are you after this boy now?" Then the jinn says, "I vowed to take revenge for my brother's murder, I will." Then the Huzur tries to reason with him a lot, but he doesn't listen at all. After that, the Huzur takes a bottle of water from his bag and throws it on this elder uncle. Then the jinn screams horribly and shouts, "I'll go, I'll go, I'm leaving. But one thing, don't try to save this boy, because in this time, at the crematory ground near the madrasa (religious school) he attends, I've fed him various things. He won't survive anymore. If I leave now, he won't live. Many things inside his body have already been damaged. But I won't harm his other siblings. I promise this. This boy is only a guest of this world for a few more days. There's no hope for him to live, because I've already done what I had to do. You've come at the very end." Then that jinn salutes and leaves. The Fakir tells the grandmother, "Mother, it's actually too late. I couldn't do anything. But Inshallah (God willing), your other children will not suffer any damage." Then the Fakir leaves from there. A week later, the elder uncle departs from this world, and this is how the incident comes to an end.
