The Haunted Pond
The story also suggests that traditional beliefs and old folklore should not be completely ignored,"

An old pond was surrounded by thick forest in a remote village in Bengal. According to the villagers, Kamala, a widow, had killed herself in that pond many years ago. Since then, on every full moon night, people claimed to see a woman in a white saree by the pond, her eyes glowing like fire.
A group of friends from the city came to the village to see their friend who lived there. One of them made a joke while they were talking, saying, "Let's go to that pond on the full moon night and see if the ghost actually exists!"
Everyone left. It had already passed midnight. Suddenly, a cold wind began to blow, and they heard the splashing sound of water. One of them dropped his flashlight and ran away. The remaining two witnessed a woman atop the water with glowing red eyes fixed on them.
They gave up, terrified. The next morning, the villagers found them unconscious near the pond. They never talked about the pond again after that.
On full moon nights, the villagers still advise against going near the spooky pond today...
