The Haunted Mirror

When Reality and Nightmare Collide

By Bilcag B.Published 3 years ago 3 min read

The mirror showed a reflection that wasn't my own. It was a twisted, distorted version of me, with hollow eyes and a sinister grin. I stumbled back, heart racing, as I tried to rationalize what I was seeing. Had I been drugged? Was this some kind of hallucination?

But as I stared into the mirror, I realized that something else was wrong. The room behind me was different, almost unrecognizable. The furniture was old and decrepit, covered in cobwebs, and the walls were stained with what looked like blood. It was like I had stepped into another world, a twisted alternate reality that was seeping through the mirror.

I tried to turn away, to run out of the room and escape the horror that was unfolding before me, but I couldn't. The mirror held me captive, drawing me closer and closer until I was face to face with my twisted reflection. And that's when I realized the truth: the mirror was cursed, and I had awoken its dark power.

From that moment on, my life was a living nightmare. The alternate reality that the mirror had revealed began to bleed into my world, manifesting as terrifying apparitions and malevolent spirits. They haunted my every waking moment, driving me to the brink of madness.

As the days passed, I grew weaker and more desperate, unable to escape the curse that had taken hold of my life. And then, one night, I saw her - a ghostly figure in the mirror, with eyes that seemed to glow with an otherworldly light.

In that moment, I knew what I had to do. I smashed the mirror into a thousand pieces, hoping that it would break the curse and free me from the horrors that had consumed my life. But as the glass shattered, I felt a cold wind rush through the room, and the ghostly figure reached out and touched my hand.

Now, I'm not sure if I'm living in the real world, or the alternate reality that the mirror revealed. The lines between the two have blurred, and I can't tell what's real and what's not. All I know is that I'm still haunted by the horrors of that cursed mirror, and I fear that I always will be.

As the days went on, the lines between the two realities began to blur. I would catch glimpses of shadows moving in the reflection that weren't there in the real world. Sometimes, I could swear that I could hear whispering coming from the mirror, beckoning me to come closer.

One night, as I was getting ready for bed, I saw something that made my blood run cold. In the reflection, I saw a figure standing behind me, its eyes glowing red in the darkness. But when I turned around, there was nothing there.

I knew then that I had to get rid of the mirror. I tried to take it down from the wall, but it wouldn't budge. It was like it was fused to the wall, anchored in place by some malevolent force.

As the weeks passed, the mirror's influence on my world grew stronger. Objects began to move on their own, and strange noises filled my house at night. I started to feel like I was losing my mind.

One day, as I was staring into the mirror, I saw something that filled me with dread. The reflection of the room behind me was changing, warping and twisting like something out of a nightmare. And then, suddenly, it broke apart like a shattered window, revealing a dark, twisted world beyond.

I knew then that the mirror was a portal to some other dimension, and that whatever had been lurking on the other side was now seeping into my world. I had to act fast if I wanted to save myself.

With trembling hands, I grabbed a hammer and smashed the mirror to pieces. And as the shards rained down around me, I felt a sudden sense of relief, like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

But even now, I still catch glimpses of that other world in the corners of my eye. And I can't help but wonder, what other horrors lurk beyond the veil?
