The Haunted Mansion

The Dare at Midnight

By JanalamPublished 4 months ago 2 min read

It was the dead of night when Rehan, Saima, Fahad, and Sarah entered the old Shafiq mansion. For years, the villagers had whispered that the mansion was cursed, but the four friends believed those were just scary tales made up to frighten people.

Rehan laughed and said,

“Ghosts? Come on! These are just stories people make up. Tonight we’ll prove it.”

The Bloody Walls

Panicked, they bolted and rushed into another room. On the walls, words written in blood glistened:

Whoever enters, never leaves.

Suddenly, fresh blood began dripping down, as though the wall had just been slashed open. Saima screamed. Fahad grabbed her hand and shouted,

“We have to get out of here—this place will destroy us!”

They ran toward the staircase—but it was gone. In its place was nothing but a vast, endless void.

Sarah’s Disappearance

As they tried to hold themselves together, Sarah suddenly felt a cold hand grip her shoulder. She spun around—but no one was there.

In the next instant, the darkness swallowed her whole.

“Sarah!” Rehan screamed, but only his echo answered him.

Fahad’s Death

Now only three remained. They ran blindly through the dark corridor until they reached a hall scattered with broken coffins.

Suddenly, skeletons began crawling out of the coffins. One of them grabbed Fahad and pulled him inside. Rehan and Saima tried desperately to free him, but the coffin slammed shut—and Fahad was gone forever.

The End of Rehan and Saima

Only Rehan and Saima were left. Gasping for breath, they dashed to the mansion’s main door. This time, it was wide open, and the cool night breeze seeped in.

“We made it!” Rehan cried.

But the moment they stepped forward, the doorway turned into a solid wall of stone.

They turned back in horror—standing before them was the faceless woman, the black void where her face should have been.

This time, she spoke:

“No one leaves this mansion without its will.”

And then, darkness swallowed everything.

Epilogue

The next morning, the villagers noticed shadows moving behind the broken windows of the Shafiq mansion. They couldn’t recognize the figures, but they knew—Rehan, Saima, Fahad, and Sarah were now part of it.

A new tale spread across the village:

“Whoever enters the Shafiq mansion never comes back. They become part of the house itself.”
