Characters:
Emily: A young woman who has recently inherited a cottage from her grandmother.
Hannah: Emily's best friend, who accompanies her to the cottage.
Alice: A ghost that haunts the cottage.
Martha: Emily's grandmother, who passed away.
It was a dark and stormy night when Emily and Hannah arrived at the cottage. The small, rundown building had been left to Emily by her grandmother, who had passed away a few months earlier. Emily had fond memories of visiting her grandmother in the cottage when she was a child, but she hadn't been back in years. She was excited to see the place again and start fixing it up.
As soon as they stepped inside, Emily and Hannah felt an eerie presence. The cottage was old and creaky, but there was something else there too. Something dark and foreboding. They tried to shake off the feeling and get settled in, but they couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched.
That night, Emily was awoken by a strange noise. She got up and went to investigate, but found nothing out of the ordinary. She shrugged it off as just her imagination and went back to bed. But the next night, she heard the noise again. This time, it was louder and more persistent. It sounded like someone was trying to open the front door.
Emily's heart was racing as she got up to check. But when she opened the door, there was no one there. She was starting to get scared. She didn't believe in ghosts, but something was definitely not right in the cottage.
Over the next few days, strange things continued to happen. Doors would open and close on their own, objects would move around, and strange noises could be heard throughout the house. Hannah tried to convince Emily to leave, but she was determined to stay and uncover the truth behind the haunting.
One night, as Emily was sitting alone in the living room, she saw a figure appear in front of her. It was a woman, dressed in old-fashioned clothes. She was translucent, and Emily could see through her to the wall behind her.
Emily was terrified, but the ghost didn't seem to be threatening her. In fact, she appeared to be sad and lost. Emily took a deep breath and spoke to the ghost.
"Who are you?" she asked.
The ghost didn't answer, but she seemed to be drawn to Emily. Emily could feel her presence, but it wasn't a negative feeling. It was almost comforting, like the ghost was trying to communicate something to her.
Over the next few days, Emily became more and more obsessed with the ghost. She started researching the history of the cottage and discovered that it had been owned by a woman named Alice in the early 1900s. Alice had been accused of witchcraft and was hanged for her crimes. Emily realized that the ghost she had seen was Alice, and that she was trying to communicate with her.
Emily started to feel a sense of responsibility towards Alice. She felt like she needed to help her in some way, to clear her name and let her rest in peace. She began to investigate Alice's trial, reading old newspaper articles and talking to historians. She found evidence that Alice had been framed, that the accusations against her were false.
Finally, Emily felt like she had enough evidence to clear Alice's name. She invited a group of people to the cottage, including historians, journalists, and even a psychic. She presented her evidence, and the group was convinced. Alice was innocent.
Suddenly, the cottage was filled with a bright light, and the ghost
