The Gel Blaster Haunt

The Halloween gel blaster story

By REMIPublished about a year ago 4 min read

It was Halloween night, and the chill in the air was palpable. A group of teenagers, Alex, Riley, Ben, and Mia, decided to explore an abandoned amusement park rumored to be haunted. The park had been closed for years, its once-vibrant colors faded and its rides rusting into oblivion.

As they ventured deeper into the park, they stumbled upon a peculiar sight. In a forgotten corner, a gel blaster was propped against a tree. Curious, Alex picked it up. It felt heavier than a toy, and its sleek design suggested it might have been a high-end model.

"Let's try it out," Ben suggested, his eyes sparkling with excitement. They turned on the blaster and fired a few shots into the air. The gel balls burst on impact, leaving behind harmless, colorful splatters.

As they continued to play, a strange feeling washed over them. The once-quiet surroundings were now filled with the sound of distant screams and laughter. The air seemed to grow colder, and a low, eerie hum filled the abandoned park.

Suddenly, a shadowy figure emerged from the darkness. It was a ghost, its translucent form shimmering in the moonlight. The ghost pointed its spectral finger at the teenagers, and a chilling wind swept through the park.

The teenagers froze in terror. They tried to run, but their legs felt like lead. The ghost advanced towards them, its eyes glowing with an unnatural light.

Just as the ghost was about to reach them, Alex raised the gel blaster and fired. The gel ball hit the ghost, and it let out a piercing scream. The ghost vanished, leaving behind a swirling vortex of mist.

Relieved and exhausted, the teenagers collapsed to the ground. They looked at each other, their eyes wide with disbelief. They had faced a real ghost, and they had defeated it with a gel blaster. As they made their way out of the park, they couldn't help but laugh. Their Halloween adventure had been one for the books.

As they walked back to their cars, they discussed the strange events of the night. "I can't believe we actually faced a ghost," Riley said, her voice still trembling. "And we defeated it with a gel blaster!"

"It was like something out of a movie," Ben added. "I'm never going to forget this night."

Mia, who had been uncharacteristically quiet, spoke up. "But what if it wasn't just the gel blaster?" she mused. "What if it was something about this place, something that made it work against the ghost?" Her words hung in the air, adding a layer of unease to their lingering excitement.

They reached their cars and paused, glancing back at the shadowy silhouette of the park. The eerie glow of the moon illuminated the rusting Ferris wheel and the tattered remains of what once was a merry-go-round. A shiver ran down Alex's spine. The park, silent and empty, now felt like it was watching them, holding its breath.

"Do you think there are more of them?" Riley asked, her voice barely a whisper. "More ghosts?"

Ben shrugged, but his eyes betrayed a hint of fear. "Maybe. Or maybe we just got lucky."

Alex still clutched the gel blaster, his knuckles white. "What if this thing wasn’t left here by accident?" he said, holding it up. "What if it’s meant to protect this place? Or keep something from getting out?"

Mia glanced around nervously. "Let’s not stick around to find out."

They piled into their cars and drove away, but the questions lingered. As they sped down the empty road, they noticed the headlights of another car in their rearview mirror. It seemed to be following them, its beams piercing through the darkness.

"Is that car following us?" Ben asked, glancing over his shoulder.

"I don’t know," Alex replied, gripping the steering wheel tighter. "But we should keep going, just in case."

For several minutes, they drove in tense silence, the mysterious car trailing them at a steady distance. Then, just as suddenly as it had appeared, the car turned off onto a side road, disappearing into the night.

Riley let out a breath she didn’t realize she had been holding. "Maybe we’re just paranoid after what happened."

"Yeah, maybe," Mia agreed, though she didn’t sound convinced.

They continued driving in silence, each lost in their own thoughts. The night’s events seemed almost surreal, as if they had stepped into a world beyond their understanding. What if Mia was right? What if there was something about the park that made it different?

When they finally reached home, Alex carefully set the gel blaster down in his room. As he did, a chill ran through him. The blaster, which had seemed so ordinary, now felt like it was pulsing with energy, as if it was waiting.

He shook off the thought and tried to sleep, but his mind kept replaying the ghost’s scream, the way it had disappeared into that swirling mist. What if it wasn’t gone? What if it was still there, waiting in the shadows of the abandoned park?

The next day at school, the four of them couldn’t stop talking about what had happened. The excitement of their Halloween adventure had turned into something else—a need to understand, to make sense of the impossible.

"Maybe we should go back," Ben suggested at lunch, his voice low.

"Are you crazy?" Riley hissed. "Why would we do that?"

"To figure out what’s going on," Ben replied. "To see if there are more of those things, or if the blaster really did work."

Mia nodded slowly. "I think we need to know. We can’t just pretend this didn’t happen."

Alex glanced at the others, then nodded. "Alright. But this time, we’ll be prepared."

That night, they met again, armed not just with the gel blaster but with flashlights, cameras, and a sense of determination. The park loomed before them, dark and foreboding. As they stepped through the gates, the chill in the air seemed to deepen, and the eerie hum filled their ears once more.

Whatever secrets the park held, they were determined to uncover them.
