In 2240, the coastal city of Velmora was a beacon of technology and beauty. Hover-trains glided above glass streets, AI assistants cleaned the skies, and the air was clear... until the fog came.

It rolled in silently one night—dense, silver, glowing faintly under the city’s neon lights. At first, no one panicked. Fog wasn’t unusual near the coast. But this fog didn’t behave like any known phenomenon.

It didn’t lift.

It didn’t move.

It... whispered.

People who stepped into the fog described hearing their names called in the voices of dead loved ones. Some claimed they saw people they had lost years ago walking just out of reach.

Then the disappearances began.

Entire apartment blocks vanished overnight, swallowed by the mist. Surveillance drones sent in returned with static-filled footage—just flashes of shadowy figures and distant, disembodied voices.

Dr. Rivan Kael, a quantum physicist, was brought in to study it. With her AI companion Solus, she analyzed the fog’s composition and found something terrifying:

The fog wasn’t made of vapor. It was a field of microscopic quantum anomalies—miniature rifts in space-time, opening into a place that should not exist.

A dimension of memory and sorrow, feeding on grief and luring people with illusions.

Dr. Kael suited up and entered the fog, her neural recorder live. Inside, she found a city half-consumed—buildings crumbling, echoing with laughter that turned into screams.

She saw her daughter there. Her daughter who had died five years ago.

But when she reached out, the figure melted, revealing something monstrous underneath—thin limbs, a featureless face, and eyes that glowed with hunger.

The whispers begged her to stay. To give in. To rest forever.

But she fought her way out, recording every second.

The footage was broadcast to the world. Velmora was quarantined.

But the fog... is spreading.

And it still whispers your name.
