Julian had always been a fan of antique art, so when he discovered a small shop in an alley filled with rare paintings, he couldn’t resist. He wandered through the dusty shelves, admiring the works. Then, one painting caught his eye—a portrait of a woman, her expression both sorrowful and menacing. The artist’s name was faded, but the painting had an inexplicable pull.

The shopkeeper, an elderly man, noticed Julian’s interest. "Ah, that one," he said. "It’s an old piece, been passed around for generations. It’s said to bring bad luck, though."

Julian scoffed at the idea of curses and bad luck. He bought the painting, excited to hang it in his study. The moment the painting was hung on the wall, Julian felt a chill run down his spine, but he brushed it off. It was just a draft, he thought.

Over the next few days, strange things began happening. Objects would go missing, only to reappear in odd places. Julian heard whispers late at night, faint voices that seemed to come from the walls themselves. But the most disturbing part was the woman in the painting. Her eyes followed him wherever he went, her gaze cold and piercing.

One evening, as he was working late, Julian noticed something different. The woman’s lips, which had once been frozen in a sad frown, were now curled into a sinister smile. He felt a sudden, overwhelming urge to leave the house, but as he turned to go, he saw the woman step out of the painting, her cold, pale fingers reaching for him.

Panicking, Julian tried to rip the painting off the wall, but as soon as he touched it, his fingers burned with a searing pain. He stumbled back, his body wracked with pain. The whispers grew louder, now filling his mind. "You shouldn’t have taken me," they said.

Julian tried to flee, but the painting seemed to follow him. No matter where he went, he could hear the whispers, feel the woman's cold gaze on him. He could no longer escape the curse.

The next morning, Julian’s neighbors found him—pale and lifeless, his eyes wide open, staring at the painting. The woman’s smile was now grotesque, her eyes glowing with satisfaction.
