"The Cabin In The Woods"- The Slasher Film To End All Slasher Films

Dear Vocal Readers (and horror enthusiasts),

Oh, The Cabin In The Woods, what a true masterpiece it is and my personal favorite slasher flick of all time! It truly is what nightmares are made from, and if you have seen this film already you will completely understand what that means. This movie tries to get you thinking it's one thing and then flips the audience on their heads when it reveals itself to be something totally different. It is incredibly unique but it also takes from all the classic horror films we have grown to love, and yet it also makes fun of them too. We think we know the general formula for scary movies, and this film wants you to think the way you have always been taught to. Once they have you in that mindset, that's when they mess with you. A quick disclaimer before I go any further into discussing this piece of art, I will be trying my best not to spoil anything. Why would I spoil it when all of you lovely viewers could enjoy it for yourselves? So, without further ado, let us explore this legendary slasher!

It starts out like any other horror film: with an office scene. Yes, that's right, an office scene. Just two coworkers casually talking and then boom- absolutely nothing spooky happens. It will make you laugh but also incredibly confused because this is not at all the introduction you expected. Everything seems so...normal. Well, there you are wrong. This movie has so many things brewing behind the scenes that will shock you and make you do double-takes.

Once you meet the cast of young adults who will inevitably be tortured by the evils of the film in the next hour and a half, you may be in for a surprise. They aren't necessarily your typical cast of dumbos like usual, except for maybe Marty who clearly fits into the stoner category. These are actually intelligent students who have promising careers and lives ahead of them, and even Marty has his charms that would easily get him through life successfully. We see them in their natural environment before going to the cabin featured in the title, you know, that cabin in the woods. This is where things start to take a turn. We see slight changes in behavior that slowly become a little less slight and more on the drastic side. What could be causing this? Good question, and one you will have to watch the film to find out the answer to!

Here of course is where the spookiness begins to occur. We still get glimpses into our boys at the office, who seem to have a much larger role in the story than we may have realized. And from here it becomes a mess of spoilers which I will not dive in to. But, I can attest to the sheer entertainment of this film and ensure you how thrilling it is. It was thrilling to be surprised by a horror film since they have become so predictable, and it was such a welcome change. This film will seriously have you dying laughing (while the characters are literally just dying) but it also performs gruesomely well when it comes to violence. Just imagine the amount of blood used like a giant bottle of ketchup, one that would provide you with enough condiments for a lifetime. And it is actually scary too! It isn't just some comedy that makes fun of horror movies, it is one of those same horror movies (and even better). The kills will sneak up on you and the acts of violence will make you want to look away at times. This all adds to the beauty of this film. Below I have provided you all with one of the bloodiest scenes in movie history, but beware this will be a spoiler. If you have no interest in viewing this classic then feel free to watch and maybe it will get you interested, but if you want to watch (like you should) and be surprised then I would recommend skipping on watching the video. Now that you have been warned, here it is.
