The BBQ Killer

Summer is such a great time of year! The sun is shining, there's not a single cloud in the sky, the temperature might be unbearably hot, but it's still better than the rain. The world just looks so much prettier and bright, especially when the sun shines across green fields making them look lush and rich with vegetation. Even the darkest, crime ridden alleyways of London or Chicago, can look welcoming in this hot, clear weather. However it isn't always sunshine and rainbows when Summer time comes round, not if you live in Texas! Because there is a particularly strange killer, that is still at large to this very day. No I'm not talking about the fictional chainsaw murderer from all of those horror films, this killer is a mysterious individual who has yet to be caught. Whoever they are, they have only ever been identified to be known as; The Barbeque Killer!

It was during the summer of 1969, that roasting hot season, was scorching enough to cook eggs on the pavement. Not that anybody would do that, but it was most definitely possible. Around this time, many Texans stir up a Barbecue party outside their homes, inviting neighbours, family and close friends to pop by and share a cold beer and fried snacks with each other. However, isolated from all of this humble fun, were lonesome Barbeque stands in the middle of the desert, here; people investigated these stands in pure curiosity only to witness true horror. Upon these grills were human body parts! Chopped up fingers, burnt black to the bone. There were eyes skewered on metal sticks and sometimes entire calves and forearms were found inside them too. There were always signs of a feast, left over cutlery that never had any fingerprints, almost like the killer was taunting the police by hiding evidence of who he or she truly was. Often times the murderer would leave behind containers of frozen body parts, they found torsos and even a decapitated head. Whoever this sick monster was, they seemed to enjoy the taste of human flesh. Rumours of the Texas Cannibal spread like a plague around the state, as these bizarre crime scenes were spotted all over the place in different towns and countryside.

By a random chance of luck, some poor man named Ron West witnessed the killer first hand; he was walking his pet dog through a particularly vegetated area of the state, when he noticed a disturbed looking individual roasting a Barbecue. It was another man, who was smiling creepily into his grill, licking his lips in an almost perverse fashion. Ron didn't want to go near this creepy stranger, but his Husky sniffed the smell of fried meat and ran straight towards the Barbeque. Ron was petrified, as the cook laughed maniacally and fed Ron's dog a human finger!

"Doggy likes us too!" The cook grinned, showing his yellow, crooked teeth. This creep looked dirty, a terrifying redneck lunatic, like someone out of a horror movie. He had a bald head full of red spots and rashes, he was incredibly obese too (perhaps anyone would after eating several fully grown humans!).

"Come here and let me make some more!" The mad man giggled like a child, as he equipped a cleaver from his pocket and threatened Ron with it. Ron's Husky barked and growled however, biting the cannibal's hand.

"Run, boy, run!" Ron ordered his pet, as he and the Husky ran as far as they could. Fortunately the obese killer was in tremendous pain and couldn't catch up with them. By the time Ron called the police to investigate, the crazed cannibal had disappeared, this time leaving his fingerprints however. Unfortunately this killer never had his finger prints recorded on any police files, so sadly this lead also ran cold.

It's been a very long time since these terrifying murders took place, the killer was never caught. A lot of people go missing everyday in the Texas deserts though, so perhaps the Texas Cannibal simply upped his game, hiding far better than ever before. It is very unlikely that he is still out there, but it is always better to stick together with friends when exploring the Texas countryside, you never know what crazy lunatics are hiding out there!
