In a small farming town at the edge of nowhere, there was a small farmhouse surrounded by endless wheat fields. It was a place where the winds whispered eerie secrets, and the creaky wooden floors creaked underfoot. Despite its remote location, many brave souls had tried to make it their home, but none had stayed for long. Over the years dozens of families tried to make this old run-down shack their home only to be met with something that doesn't want them there. Many thought this little area was home to what natives called "Skin Walkers" and some whispered tales of demons walking the plains. Whatever it was that made the families leave, they left without a word to anyone and nobody knows what happened to them.

Like all ghost stories, the most activity happens in the month of October, and the closer to Halloween the more active. During one particular day around mid-October, a story started to go around the local market. The story goes that during one dark and stormy night a few days ago, a young couple decided to seek shelter in that abandoned farmhouse. They had been driving for hours and had lost their way in the labyrinth of the countryside roads. There was no inn in the little farm town as it was just a shipping town and its rare for outsiders to pass through.

As they approached the house, they noticed that there was a faint light flickering in the window. With nowhere else to go they looked at one another and pulled over in front of the house. The rain wasn't letting up anytime soon and from the looks of things it seem to only get worse. With nothing else to lose they got out of the car and made their way to the the front door. They knocked on the door, but there was no answer, they called out several times, but there was no response. Eventually, they decided to push open the door and take shelter inside.

The smell of rotting wood was heavy in the air it was enough to make you gag. Rain was coming through little holes in the roof rotting the already weak wood. The house was empty, except for a few dusty old furniture pieces and a creepy portrait hanging on the wall. A thick layer of dust covered everything in the house, but despite everything they made themselves comfortable and fell asleep in one of the bedrooms keeping each other warm.

But as the night wore on, strange things started to happen. Thinking it was just in their head or the wind from the storm they tried to ignore it until it was impossible to ignore. They heard footsteps in the hallway and the creaking of the wooden floors just down the hall. The young lady sat u in the bed shaking from the fear. Her eyes widened as her blood ran cold as she watched shadows of different sizes and shapes dance on the walls and disappear as a cold breeze blew through the room.

They tried so hard to ignore everything, thinking it was their imagination playing tricks on them. Maybe it was the stress of being stranded in a terrible storm in the middle of the night. But then, they heard a child's laughter and a woman's voice singing an eerie lullaby from somewhere in the house.

Terrified, the woman urged the man to get up to investigate, but in the end, the man convinced her its safer to go together. They found themselves in a room filled with cobwebs and old toys. The voices suddenly stopped, and they thought they were alone. But then, they saw the ghostly figure of a woman and a child standing before them. Their appearance was nothing less than frightening as their skin was sickly pale with dark sunken eyes. Their clothes looked old and tattered like it was a miracle that the fabric was still held together.

Their blood ran cold from what they saw and turned to try and run. The two made it to the front door, but their hearts sank when they came to find that the doors were locked. They were trapped in the unholy shack, and the spirits of the farmhouse were not going to let them leave so easily. Unwilling to let them leave the two ghoulish ghosts descended upon the couple. Their screams never made it too far from the driveway and they never made it out of the house. In the morning after the storm cleared a farmer on his tracker was driving down the road and came across the couple's car. He got off and inspected the car and its surrounding finding no sign of the couple. With nothing left to check he headed up to the house and knocked on the door and called out. With no answer and no sign of life anywhere the farmer towed the truck to his barn after leaving a note letting whoever know where to find it. The couple never came back for their car no appeared again. Missing flyers went up and they were easily forgotten, their fate was added to the many other lost souls that had dared to enter the farmhouse in the past.

From that day on, the farmhouse remained empty and abandoned, its haunted secrets only whispered by the winds. And the locals say that if you listen carefully on a quiet night, you can still hear the eerie lullaby echoing through the empty fields along with the screams of victims passed.
