The Awakening
When you wake, but it isn’t you anymore…

I woke up screaming.
But my mouth didn't move.
—
I tried to sit up—
But something else already had.
—
It stretched my arms.
Cracked my neck.
Slid my skin back into place.
—
Then it turned to me.
—
I saw it wearing my face.
I saw it blink with my stolen eyes.
I saw it smile.
—
"Go back to sleep." it whispered.
—
Then it walked away—
Into my life.
—
And left me behind.
—
Trapped.
Screaming.
Silent.
