Terrifying True Tale: The Halloween Horror in Catalonia

A Convicted Murderer, a Classroom of Innocent Children, and a Teacher's Haunting Escape

In a quaint, secluded town nestled between the mountains of Catalonia, Spain, a terrifying event unfolded many years ago that still sends chills down the spines of the townsfolk. This story, often whispered in hushed tones, centers around the town’s pride and joy—its school, once voted the best in the province.

On the morning of October 31st, Halloween, a class of students aged eight and nine were joyfully engaged in arts and crafts. Their beautiful young teacher, new to the school, watched over them as they cut out skeletons, painted vampire bats, and drew pumpkins. Amid the laughter and creativity, the teacher turned on the radio to check the weather, hoping to organize an outdoor Halloween party later that day.

However, the festive mood was shattered by an urgent news bulletin interrupting the radio broadcast. The announcement revealed that a convicted murderer had escaped from the local prison and was on the loose, described as armed and very dangerous. The teacher quickly switched off the radio, but not before the children had heard the alarming news. Their fear was palpable, given the proximity of the prison to their school.

The situation intensified when the school principal announced over the intercom that all teachers should lock their classroom doors and windows until further notice due to the serious situation in town. The teacher, striving to maintain calm, locked the classroom door and secured all the windows, ensuring no one could enter.

A little girl in the class asked to go to the bathroom. Despite initial reluctance, the teacher relented, giving the girl a secret knock code—three taps and two scratches—to use upon her return. After the girl left, the teacher locked the door again and resumed their activities to distract the children from the frightening news.

Twenty minutes passed with no sign of the girl. The teacher grew increasingly worried. Suddenly, they heard footsteps in the corridor and a knock at the door: Tap tap tap. Scratch scratch. The teacher sighed in relief, believing the girl had returned. As she moved to unlock the door, a frightened boy questioned, “What if it’s not her?” Hesitant, the teacher waited, and the knock came again: Tap tap tap. Scratch scratch. Convinced, the teacher unlocked the door.

To her horror, the door burst open, revealing a tall man holding a knife in one hand and the severed head of the little girl in the other. The escaped murderer had entered the classroom, trapping the children inside. Screams of terror and squeals of pain echoed through the corridors. In the ensuing chaos, the teacher managed to break a window and escape, but the children were not as fortunate.

Police arrived to a gruesome scene: the murderer sitting in the blood-soaked classroom amidst the dismembered bodies of the children. They found the headless body of the little girl in the third stall of the bathroom. Investigations revealed that the murderer had likely been hiding in the bathroom, overpowering the girl and forcing her to reveal the secret knock before killing her.

The teacher, now in a psychiatric hospital, remains haunted by the events, endlessly repeating, “Tap tap tap. Scratch scratch…” The school, abandoned and left untouched, stands as a macabre reminder of that dreadful day. It is said that if one visits the old school and taps three times and scratches two times on the door of the third stall in the bathroom, the headless body of the little girl will appear, forever trapped in that horrific moment.

This tale serves as a chilling reminder of the fragility of safety and the haunting power of fear, forever etched in the memory of the small town in Catalonia.
