Terrifier 2: No thanks

I enjoy wondering about the unknown and not being so frightened by a film I pass out or vomit.

Thanks but no thanks

When I heard about all the people fainting and vomiting while watching Terrifier 2 I had to wonder what was going through the minds of those who created this film. Did they stop to consider that another Jeffrey Dahmer might be motivated by the gory scenes or did they even consider that someone might have a heart attack and die?

I know I'm a Boomer who grew up in the days of black-and-white television and suspense rather than guts and blood. Still, I had to wonder does anyone today care about the effects on others of what they produce, or is everyone in it for the money? Is it really worth it and what about all the people who flock to these slasher films knowing that there are individuals among us who have actually done such gruesome things?

How can anyone enjoy being frightened into throwing up and passing out I wondered but I guess it's the same with those who drink till they vomit and or faint dead away until the next morning. After the release of the Dahmer Netflix film which I am not going to watch I would think as a society, we would be more careful about our actions. If just one person is murdered because of Terrifier 2 that is one person too many.

Distinctions between fantasy and reality

I always say that I grew up watching Superman leap from tall buildings in a single bound but I never tried it. Today mental health issues are at an all-time high and there have been reports of children and teens doing whatever they see on TV, movies, and TikTok without being able to distinguish fantasy from reality. Have we as a society gone stark raving mad? What about responsibility and living a life or producing material that encourages, uplifts, and motivates?

Every day in this nation people go missing and those who are found tell harrowing stories of being chained up in basements, starved, or watching others being tortured or murdered. Consider how the survivors and the family members of the victims feel when soo much degradation is in their faces.

Give me the days of Alfred Hitchcock and Twilight Zone where audiences were thrilled by the unexpected and possibilities of what may happen. Even the granddaddy of horror films the original Halloween had more scenes that made you jump or hide your face than actual gore. Call me an old out of touch Baby Boomer because I don't care. There need to be more voices of reason that are not afraid to say "Something is wrong with this picture," literally and figuratively.

Morals and values are needed

sI already know my time and attention to this article will not lead to it getting millions of views and going viral. I understand that this is not sensationalism and will not be featured on Vocal's front page but if just one person can understand the point without considering this material as "judging" then my work is done.

With all the bad things that have happened since COVID first began you would think as a nation, we would be kinder, gentler, and more conscious of what might be detrimental to those struggling with mental health issues, delusions, and or hallucinations and not purposefully give them nightmares. Something happened to us when Donald Trump began expressing his ugly views without a filter and now he is gone but the vitriol continues.

Have we no standards anymore

Laugh at my views but I'm glad I never followed the pop culture and ran to a movie just because everyone else did. I'm thankful to have the presence of mind to say no. I understand that those that think like me are mostly dead and gone but as long as I am here I will champion the right to say no and consider others as well as one's own mental health.

Someone somewhere should have stood up and said "No" before Terrifier 2 ever got off the ground and now more vile and disheartening filth has been unleashed on the earth. It's not just a movie when people have physical reactions to it. Take a really good look at that clown's face. He represents evil, murder, and mayhem and looks like he came from the pits of hell. How could anyone consider this entertainment? Thank you Vocal media for giving me a platform to express my unpopular opinion.
