Talk to Me Has One of the Best Openings in Horror History

I love me some good horror movie openings, and I think Talk to Me has to be in the top 10 of horror movies. Talk to Me was created by two YouTubers that I was a bit of a fan of online, and they blew me away with their horror movie debut, creating one of the best and bleak horror movies ever brought to theaters. I enjoyed this movie so much, and I was amazed how these YouTubers were able to pull off such a powerful horror film like this.

The opening to this movie is one of the best, and I remember the first time I watched it, I felt dread creep into my body, because I knew I was in for a thrill ride that was going to make me so uncomfortable.

Great horror movie openings are the perfect way to tell the audience what to expect in the film, and it can either be a hit or miss. Talk to Me does a great opening that continues to build up to complete insanity, and it's a perfect introduction to the gore and brutal kills we are about to witness.

Talk to Me is about kids who stumble upon an item that resembles a hand, and you are able to summon spirits, allowing them to possess your body for a short period. If you overdo the time limit, something bad can happen, leading to something that will either kill you or leave you completely traumatized.

During the opening of the film, we see a random guy walking straight into a party, searching desperately for his brother. From the posture of the brother, and the anger within his voice, we know that he has been dealing with his brother's problems for a long time, but we don't know exactly what his brother has been going through. The guy eventually finds his brother by kicking down a door at the party, and he prepares to get him the hell out of there. His brother appears to be in somewhat of a daze, sitting on the bed in a random room.

The guy is suddenly attacked by his brother, a knife plunging his chest. The party goes into complete chaos, and everyone runs away in fear. The brother is holding the knife that he had attacked his brother with, and then proceeds to shove the blade straight into his face, as people continue to scream.

We then get the title of the film.

That opening was so hard to watch, and the sound effects of the knife stabbing into the guy and the brother's face broke me.

That is a shocking opening, and I think the last time an opening got me like that was the beginning of the original Jaws. Watching the young woman get pulled underwater by a shark as she screams in fear was terrifying, and the intro to Talk to Me was so similar to that same fear. We have an idea of what the film could be about, but we still don't know what the hell to expect.

The one thing that I recently learned that I think is pretty awesome, is that we are possibly getting a prequel based on the opening of Talk to Me. I'm glad we are getting a prequel to the demon summoning hand, because I have so many questions as to how this hand was brought to the world. How this item is able to carry so many demons that want to bring nothing but harm to others is something that could easily be explored for horror fans to check out!
