Ben's last stand.
Part 1: The Discovery It started off as a regular day for twelve-year-old Ben. He woke up early, got dressed, and headed off to school. As he walked into the school building, he noticed that something was off. The students walking around him had an odd pallor about them, and there was a certain air of silence and restraint that hung over the place. It wasnoff to school. Everything seemed normal until he entered his classroom. Half of his classmates were missing, and in their place were a group of pale and inhuman-looking students.

Liminality
Silvered by the thin sliver of moon, the silhouette dragged the body along the wooden pier, loose limbs bumping over the old planks. The lake sparkled as a light breeze tickled the surface. A dense tangle of mangroves crowded the shore on all sides, thickly knotted darkness against darkness.

Invasive Species
“Oh, come you young sailors and listen to me, and I’ll tell you a tale of the fish in the sea,” Connor McKnight’s soft voice echoed off the high ceilings, bouncing uniquely from the glass borders of the exhibits. He loved this time of night, the quiet bubbling of the water filters and the occasional splash or pop from somewhere just out of sight.

Whispers in the night: a Jinn story
Can we see ghosts? Or is ghost just a general term given to horrifying creatures? Some people believe in supernatural creatures and I’m one of them. I briefly remember this horror story my grandmom told my cousins and me as kids. Not one for children honestly. But before I dive deep into the story I’d like to make mention that in my culture, we consider Jinns to be real and living. Jinns, although not visible are supernatural creatures made of fire. They are categorized as good and bad jinns. Moreover, they live a life just like humans and in some circumstances can interact with humans too. There are many cases where humans have been possessed by jinns, influencing their thoughts and actions and disastrously causing harm.

The Mirror
The Mirror It all started on moving day. I’ve moved so many times prior to finding this house. This was an old place, a big fixer-upper located on the south side of Chicago. My wife Janet loved it immediately and when she says she wants something, I’ll do my best to get it for her. I love her after all. Not only that, Janet saved me. She literally saved me from death. Some years ago I attempted suicide. I am forever in her debt and was lucky it was Janet, a paramedic, who saved me. She saved my life twice that night: not only from death but also giving me something worth living for.
