Whack! The sickening sound of the meat cleaver hitting a joint resonates in the bloodied room. It’s a sound that always makes me cringe, which strikes me as ironic: the owner of a butchery not liking cutting up meat. That’s why it’s never been my job until now.

Merciless
One foot after another, I approached the neon yellow taxi. The exterior stung my eyes in combination with the bright lights of Times Square. I focused my watery eyes on the black and blue stripes of the taxicab to calm my vision. I rubbed my eyes, reverting my sight to a mere blur. I rubbed them again and looked at the cab once more. The tires looked old and like they were deteriorating, ready to burst at any moment. Looking inside the windows, which were filthy from months of winter grime and condensation, I noticed that the seats were made of some kind of fake leather that was coming apart at the seams. I moved my glance over to the front of the car. The passenger seat held his wallet, bag, and papers in a pile. Under his rearview there was a nametag with a name I didn’t bother to read and a face I did not recognize, nor will I remember. Under the nametag there was a meter that was already started the second we made eye-contact. The second I opened the door, a mix between body odor and cherry air freshener blasted my nostrils. To my surprise and good fortune, there was no camera. I crouched down, careful not to hit my head on the roof, and took a step into the car. I begrudgingly sat on his old and torn seats. I sat behind the passenger seat. The car was so old that the fabric tore under me causing a small hole. I put my bag down next to me. His dashboard hula shook back and forth, as though it was mocking me. Settling inside the car my vision was set on the ornament rocking back and forth. I tried to ignore it, but it kept taunting me.

Dr. Spain's Horror Review: "Ghost of Camp Blood"
I’d like to preface this by saying that I have seen a lot of bad films in my life. There’s a certain part of me that has a self-destructive need to discover movies of surpassingly poor quality, and that’s given me a real insight into just how terrible a work of visual medium can be while still qualifying as a film. I’m saying this because I want to provide a good level of context for the second part of this sentence when I say that Ghost of Camp Blood is not only the worst film I’ve ever seen in my life, but also the worst thing that’s ever personally happened to me.

I Prefer Psychotic
“Have a good day at school honey,” Mom says. It’s the first day. I am terrified. I’ve been homeschooled all my life until my parents died. Karen and Josh took me in after that. They’re so kind and they spoil me. I guess they thought after my real parents were murdered, I was having a hard time to recover.

Teaching junior
Big John Miller loved Sundays. That was when young John Miller junior would come over and hang out in the shed with Ol' Grandad. The girls, his wife of fifty-three years, Margaret and his daughter Phillipa would be inside getting Sunday dinner ready. They would be chopping and preparing vegetables and cakes for dessert. They would be talking about whatever girls talked about when they chopped and prepared, and he would get to hang out with John Junior for the day.

Nightmare Journal: Knife Intruder
*Ding Clang Ding* *Ding Clang Ding* I let out a hoarse groan as I reach over to get my phone off the charger. Its dusk, no sound needs to be that loud right now, especially on one hour of sleep. I stupidly worked out later than I should have last night and my pre-workout surged through my body, keeping me up until 4 AM. My alarm was set for 5, and then 5:05, 5:10, 5:15, etc.; I had to be at Mary’s at 6:45, and I had already slept in late on her once so I couldn’t let it happen again. I punish myself by getting up at one of the earlier dings, for it’s my fault I kept the energy going anyways. My workout wasn’t as strenuous as it usually is because my new smoking habit made my lungs collapse easier on my run, therefore I settled for walking, which took little to no energy from my cracked out veins.

Nightmare Journal: Gun Boy
I could feel that he wasn’t as in to me as I was in to him. I sat awkwardly on my twin bed against the window as he stood, vacant, at its side. Conversation had been dull and vague throughout the night and I spent it wondering what was on his mind, even though I already knew. I thought that a boy who charmed me the way he had in the beginning would be the one. I guess I was wrong, and now I’m stuck in this limbo until he voices his feelings, or ghosts me, which I could see him doing after today.
