Movies That Are Worth Getting Scared By
Embarrassingly, I spend more time reading about horror films than I do watching them. This is because I’ve always been a fan of the monsters and killers portrayed in horror films, but have never been a fan of feeling fear. Some people like the rush of being scared but I’ve always thought it was strange to use free time to feel uncomfortable. For a long time this made me avoid horror films while reading about their interesting characters and mythologies. Obviously, I couldn’t avoid horror films forever as I began watching them with my friends.

'Who's Watching Oliver' (2017)
“Who’s Watching Oliver” will certainly not be appreciated by everyone. It’s a film about voyeurism, sadism, and total insanity. At first sight, the film seems meaningless in terms of content, but as the film progresses, you’ll conclude it contains a more pronounced message. The moment Oliver (Russell Geoffrey Banks) begins to abuse and torture a girl like a madman, under the watchful eye of his authoritarian mother (Margaret Roche), who’s watching the whole show via a webcam, you assume that this is the umpteenth morbid torture film. But as soon as the handsome Sophia (Sara Malakul Lane) comes into the picture, the storyline tilts slightly. From that moment on, it is no longer the Oliver who has to tolerate the whims of his mother, routinely take his two pills, and goes off to search his next victim. No. Now he’s the Oliver who realizes that there may be a way out of this violent existence.

Some of the Most Thrillingly Scary Movies to Make a Person Stand at Attention
Have you ever picked a dark, stormy night with lots of thunder jumping outside to watch a scary movie? If you are a person who enjoys watching thrillers and movies that really keep you on your tiptoes, the kind of movies that reel you in so deep that sounds begin coming out of nowhere and the viewer's eyes become so glued to the movie being watched that the rest of the world just fades out, these movies are the ones that after you watch them completely to the end your eyes begin to wander around. The eyes are looking for that compelling figure that is hiding in the dark corners ready to walk through the wall. The heart begins to pound so hard and fast that when it stops, the worry of if it flew out of your chest passes over the mind.

'The First Purge' - Movie Review
They say that every movie starts at a 5 out of 10 and either goes up or down from there. The first few lines of this movie’s dialogue are spoken by a junkie clearly off his rocker, and an interviewer. The junkie’s name is Skeletor (yes, really), and he’s talking about why he’s an addict in awkward close-up. The movie finishes its cold opening with these lines. Skeletor: “I want to release this pain. To purge.” Interviewer: “Purge. Interesting choice.” Then we cut to the title card. So far, this movie is sitting at a perfect zero.

There will be spoilers. Last night, my friend and I went to see Hereditary. Allow me to paint the scene: I'm the movie lover with the taste for horror. My friend is not so big on this genre but will go see any movie that is intriguing, whatever the genre, and comes with an open mind.

Hello, one and all. After a lengthy sabbatical, I have returned. So far, in my humble opinion, 2018 is going down as the worst year for movies — ever! I exaggerate not! So far, with at least two exceptions: Black Panther and Incredibles 2, no other film has been even remotely worth my interest.
