A Film Addict Reviews! Psycho
I have always been curious about film history and how it influenced the films of today. The films of yesteryears are always curious cause they start certain genres. For example, we have Jaws and Star Wars to thank for the blockbusters of today. Star Wars was influenced by Akira Kurosawa samurai films and Flash Gordon and now its massively popular. The films that inspire others to create are usually the most interesting due to the fact they were testing the new grounds of that genre and Psycho is no different.

'Evil Dead' - Original Vs. Remake
Hello, and welcome back to The Great Debates where I decide which batch of Deadites deserves decapitation the most. As big into horror as I am, I only recently got around to watching one of the most celebrated series of them all, Sam Raimi's Evil Dead franchise. In fact, I decided to make this whole month a celebration of the franchise with articles about the movies here on Vocal and a playthrough of the game Evil Dead: Regeneration on my YouTube channel "Cool Media".

Rosemary's Bastard
This Review contains some spoilers. Before turning on Rosemary’s Baby, I had heard much praise from many different friends, many I know through theatre, are avid film buffs like me, or have just said it’s worth watching Along with those I mentioned who I know personally, I’ve heard many critics talk about how much they loved this film. One of my favorite authors, Stephen King, was among them. So with all of this in mind going into the movie, I was beyond excited. However, after finishing the movie, I was more than disappointed, I was pissed. Watching this movie made me angry, which is something that rarely happens to me with films. But this film, from beginning to end, made me mad. And since we’re in the wonderful month of October, with horror movies coming out of our ears in preparation for Halloween, I felt it was appropriate to warn you all who perhaps haven’t seen this film before you waist any portions of your valuable time.

Film Review: Gretel & Hansel
Anyone familiar with the original versions of classic fairy tales like “Hansel and Gretel” already knows that they have lots of horror movie potential. As a rule though, most attempts to capture these tales on film tend to miss the mark. It’s clear from the conspicuous reversal of the titular names that Gretel & Hansel hopes to distinguish itself from the rest of the pack right from the get-go, but does it actually do the job, or are you better off spending 90 minutes of your time on some other film?

‘The Mortuary Collection’ Is at Once Horrifying and Adorable
When I noticed the name Clancy Brown in The Mortuary Collection‘s description, it was all the motivation I needed. He is one of my favorite character actors. In fact, he’s so good, he even makes things like Pet Sematary II watchable.

'Vampires vs. the Bronx' Movie Review
In this horror-comedy from SNL's Oz Rodriguez, three inner-city kids, Miguel (Jaden Michael), Bobby (Gerald W. Jones III), and Luis (Gregory Diaz IV), find out that a beloved bodega in their neighborhood is being forced to close, thanks to increasing gentrification. In order to save it, they organize a block party to raise money. But it turns out that the development company that's been "infecting" their neighborhood is run by vampires, and it's up to them to save it.

Identity - A Movie Review
I knew we shouldn’t have come to this hotel. There’s no telling where the killer is. Identity is a 2003 mystery thriller. Ten strangers are stranded at a motel on a stormy evening. One by one, they fall victim to an unknown killer. Putting together the puzzle pieces, there is only a matter of time.

Mutant (1984)
100 minutes. Wings Hauser, Jody Medford. Rated R There is much romance to be had here. Not just in the story, but in the execution of this production and at this particular time for horror. It's a small town monster movie made during the slasher era. There are practical effects, stuntmen on fire, bodies flying off of cars and crashing through dark windows during the mayhem. Shot in Atlanta in 1983, it harkens back to another time where you could almost picture this mostly local cast in a western some thirty years previous. The influences are there. Bo Hopkins is our alcoholic Sheriff with a troubled past and the lovely Jennifer Warren is the town doctor, love interest. Wings Hauser and Lee Montgomery round out the cast as two city boys, brothers Mike and Josh respectively. Mike is getting his younger brother out of the city to cheer him up as they intended to just pass through but... they run afoul of some local town "hero's" who aren't so impressed by them. In short order we have road rage inspired stunt driving, an ok bar altercation, some cool exposition and a dead guy who isn't so dead anymore. I'll leave it at that.
