Knock at the Cabin
The latest apocalypse-themed movie from director M. Night Shyamalan, Knock at the Cabin, fails to live up to expectations. Despite the rich cinematography from co-cinematographers Jarin Blaschke and Lowell A. Meyer, and the uniformly intense performances from the cast, the story falls flat. The film uses the threat of an impending apocalypse to create a morality study, but it progressively hollows itself out, lacking any real resonance. While the performances are striking, Shyamalan's larger intent doesn't give the film nearly enough depth.

Furies
Dynamic Action Filmmaking Takes Center Stage in Furies, the Prequel to Furies Furies, the prequel to the 2019 martial arts masterpiece Furie, showcases dynamic action filmmaking that elevates an otherwise uneven Vietnamese beat-em-up. Veronica Ngo, the star of Furie, makes her directorial debut in Furies, which explores the backstory of Thanh Soi, the scene-stealing villain from Furie, played by Thanh Hoa. While Furies does not follow Ngo’s character or storyline, it offers a compelling and gritty take on human trafficking through the story of Bi, a righteously angry orphan played by Dong Anh Quynh. The movie is centered around Bi and her vigilante squad, including Thanh (Toc Tien), Hong (Rima Thanh Vy), and their leader Jacqueline (Ngo Thanh Van), as they take on a group of sadistic traffickers.

‘Scream VI’ Movie Review
Scream VI is brought to us by the same team who revived the franchise last year with Scream (2022). It’s been a year since the events of the previous film. Sam and Tara Carpenter (Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega) are at Blackmore University in New York City, along with their friends Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Chad (Mason Gooding). But a new Ghostface starts killing other people around them, and the “Core Four”, as Chad dubs them, will need to enlist the help of old acquaintance Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox), local lawman Detective Bailey (Dermot Mulroney), and newly-returned final girl-turned-FBI agent Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere).
