Sheila
Mother Nature was in a giving mood today. Sunny. Mid-seventies. Just breezy enough to mess up your hair. If you weren’t outside on a day like today, then you were stuck at work, stuck in jail, or dead. I sat on the cabin stoop, pondering nothing, when Butch came prancing across the dooryard to show off his prize. It was a small, black journal or diary. I took hold of it and yanked back and forth, side to side, his head followed suit and a whiny growl suggested that he had only wanted to show me his find, not give up possession of it.

The Gift of Woe
It was a good sized chunk of money, there was no denying that. Not exactly massive inheritance sort of money, but certainly pay-off-my-student-loans money, extravagant European vacation money, perhaps even homeowner money, but buying a home seemed so far-off and boring when she hadn’t yet finished college or had an extravagant European vacation. The most exciting thing about the money was the name Mira Cardwell printed neatly in small, professional letters just after “Pay to the order of”. She handled the check carefully as if it might turn to sand with a single breath, allowing herself at last a small, tentative smile once it became clear that this was unlikely to happen. Seeing one’s own name written down by foreign hands on such a life-changing little piece of paper had an odd turn to it; a funny little twist in the stomach that tightened the heart and its moorings and drew everything together in a little ball of pleasant anxiety.

Departures
It was a bad day already, and it was barely midday. Coming to a stop on the sidewalk, Jack stared down at his sandwich with resignation. Stronger emotions, such as disgust and disappointment, had departed long ago. Jack William O'hare dreamed of being disgusted.

Blind Sight
“Where did you say you met him again?” “My cousin’s wedding in Fremont last month. It was totally unexpected, but you know I love a man in uniform.” Celeste could hear Claudia rolling her eyes over the phone. “Stop overthinking it. Sean is a good guy. I can tell.”

A Simple Find
It was rare that he got to see Sandra; the last time had been his mother’s funeral, when Sandra showed up to “support” Rachel. He and Rachel got to the cafe early to sneak in a quick meal and catch up on life, something he had been looking forward to. By the time Sandra burst through the door like a celebrity trying to escape the paparazzi, Rachel had told him all about her new job as a paralegal. He wished that he had good news to share, but things hadn’t been good for a while. His last gig in construction ended two months ago, and he didn’t have the heart to tell her that nothing new had come up since.

Was it Worth it
A sharp rap on the door jolted me from the book I was reading on the couch, it was finally here! My best-friend and I had recently began our journey into the dark web, and had mustered the courage to order a mystery box. I waited a few moments for the delivery man to drop off the package and leave, before springing the door open to collect my goods.

Jessie’s Dark Fate
I walk through the hotel room, the smell of death filling my nose. I look for clues as to what really went on in here. We received a call about no one leaving this room for weeks and a smell coming from it. When we first got here, it seemed like it was a burglary gone wrong from the amount of smashed glass and blood. I shuffle around through the drawers for any personal items. I go to the nightstand and open the drawer. I see a small black notebook laying in the center, I grab it and open it to read but a page falls out. I decide to read that first:

A Book Beyond Black
Evening came and went. Darkness fell. As midnight neared, Jared was waiting. Deep down, he knew he was crossing lines, but being stubborn, and way too intrigued, he committed himself to the deed. He downed a shot of liquid courage and looked towards the house across the street. Why were there never any lights on? Too late to ponder now. He was thankful for it tonight. He strode to the end of the drive, heart pumping in a frenzy, and proceeded to sneak to the edge of the yard. Thankfully, the moon was scarcely visible and bordering bushes obscured him.

Little Black Book
Jessica left her professor’s office filled with dissatisfaction. He hadn’t been much help to her. She came to him looking for answers. Dr. Ziegler was a PhD in ancient culture and civilizations, he might be of use in deciphering the language. No such luck. Ziegler’s only response was “that’s what research is for.” Well, if that was the case, then he probably didn’t know much about the hand-printed hieroglyphs written the book she was holding.

Germaine Street - Chapter Two
The four mask form Itsuki took when they hung around the house always weirded Darius out. It wasn’t that the Yōsei was incapable of taking more anthropomorphic shape but they were very disinclined to. Darius suspected it was because Itsuki knew how weird most other beings found it.

MAN MADE 2
In part 2 of Man made Low has successfully saved his people and the new light of his mind, he now walks with a scar on his chest carrying more than one heart. The world around him has become altered since merging with a demigod, Lilith who use to be the underground lord now has a new way of looking at life. It was as if she was looking through the eyes of her lover, they both have changed each other so deeply. They were better thinkers, but being better people comes with their actions in the world. With this new power Low could abuse it like his forefathers treated Lilith, but he remains in a level of maturity that hate is a concept that does not exist in him. Pain was a feeling he has grown numb to such as feelings and emotion, the only pleasure that pleases him was someone who he could share with. Freeing his mind from boredom and or doubts of if he belongs in this world. When Low and Lilith go back to the neighborhood we find that man has already taken advantage of his spoils of war. Low gave the four gangs the keys to Lilith's treasures through the pages he ripped out of the little black book, giving away the secrets inside. One gang the "Moose Heads"didn't make it, they all died from king mightiest’s gold which should have never been found. Lilith informs Low these aren't treasures these are the sins of man she had been trying to keep away. Another gang "Kush Kapital" the one Low is from has a different cursed treasure, by looking at it you become compelled to have it all. They also robbed her military arsenal taking very magical high grade weapons. They are currently the most powerful, they're power becomes stronger than their greed for more. "Demonville" became their own worst nightmare, they became the monster that lived inside each of them. The treasure they sought was non-existent; instead, it was a room of mirrors, there was nothing in the notes that talked about mirrors. When they looked inside it wasn't a reflection, but a demon fitting their personal sin. They now walk the earth not being able to hide the monster inside a human shell, everyone will see them for their flaws. The last gang was teleported forward in time making them non existent in this timeline. Low and Lilith try to fix the things that destroy this world, once again demons walk the earth. The earth is now a reflection of Lilith's mind, she doesn't know it but she still hasn't let go. She may have let Low in but she still sees men for the evil people they are. Believing the “want” to control everything is human nature, to convince them to think about their effect on the world is like asking them to change they're own lives. Lilith wants to kill them all, but Low asks if they should try something less sinister, they would end up destroying the whole world if they did this. He confronts a demon resembling the Minatour.
