Horror fiction that delivers on its promise to scare, startle, frighten and unsettle. These stories are fake, but the shivers down your spine won't be.
Reflection
Running…breathing hard…running faster and faster into the deepest void of the forest. The trees closing in, creating a veil of rotting leaves around her head. Forceful wind screeching, howling her name between the creaking branches. Feet smacking the cold, wet ground, mud coating the bottoms of her bare feet. Toes slowly turning purple from the tundra of the wilderness. Slipping, falling into the deep dark waters of the river flowing wildly from the rain pouring down. Sinking farther and farther down into the darkness, never to be seen again. Not by her friends, co-workers, or loved ones…no one will ever notice her missing. No tears will be shed from the instant death. Body freezing as the ice water encased every inch of her body, water filling her lungs. Slowly drowning, watching life flash before her eyes. Wishing, wanting to change the things that she regrets. Not knowing where the bottom of the river is, falling further and further down into the depths, never knowing where it ends…

Library of Forgotten Souls
It didn't seem like such a spooky place, she thought. She had heard so many tales of ghosts, rising mists, odd shadow figures, mysterious sounds, but as she stood there beside her car at the edge of the lake looking up the hill towards the fog surrounded mansion, it seemed more like a picturesque monument on a postcard than anything she had heard tell of it. She had loved the city, but her new partner wanted her to go take some photos for her portfolio of real estate photography, as well as decide if this place could warm her heart and soul for their planned getaway vacation home together. He had showed her so many houses, but none of them had felt right to her. None felt like a home away from home, or like the perfect little place to replenish and renew inspiration after a busy year of work. She wanted somewhere she could keep her library of books, and he had told her that this place had a beautiful old style library within it, as well as a tea sitting room, and other perfect features including the lake. Her eyes turned to the lake, where the fog had just seemed to begin to roll over as if it was flowing down the hill and skating on the water. She snapped a picture of the beautiful mist and then of the mansion before her. She got back into her car and continued up the drive to the front door.

Mayflies
I’ve always fantasized about how I would meet Her. My wife, my dream girl, my soulmate. Ever since I was a little kid I would make up stories in my head about how I would meet Her. Always something fantastic and wild. Could you imagine simply meeting your partner on a dating app? Telling your parents that story? Nah, not for me.

Siren's Lake
They had been planning this trip since the moment Jared proposed. It was a time of great happiness as the couple threw the last of their baggage into the back of the vehicle. The drive to the cabin was filled with the beauty of October leaves displaying their proud lives well spent. The wind churned as it passed judgment on the next one to fall. With each one holding an account of the passing summer's memory. The cold of winter began its long, slow, creeping into the world. A plethora of pleasant conversation filled the journey as the two newlyweds made their way to the site where they would spend the next few days celebrating the lives they imagined for themselves in the years to come.

Cabin Friends
“All right,” Dad said, tying his bathing suit. “Hopefully I won’t be long.” Logan looked up from his puzzle. Even at the age of seven, he could see the frustration in his father’s face. The tone of their vacation had changed from joyful to grim in the space of a few minutes, and all it took was a muffled conversation between his parents and the grown-ups from the other cabin.
