Once Burned (Night Prince )
Chapter 1 I parked my bike in front of the restaurant, wiping the perspiration from my upper lip. It was unseasonably warm this January, but sweating during a Florida winter was better than freezing in a Northern one. I twisted my hair into a knot, my neck cooler once the long black swath was off it. With a final swipe at my forehead, I entered the restaurant, ignoring the tables in favor of the patrons seated at the bar.

Return
Tossing and turning within the overbearing heat of a comforter, sweat slamming into the mattress. A tangled heap of fabric and flesh shot upright looking desperately for any sign of freedom. Eyes roamed the near perfect room, glancing over the rainbow scribbles in the corner that contrasted the slate blue walls. A singular oak wood dresser took residency in the corner, not a single mark on its reflective surface.

Ruthless
Jaslene was a naïve young woman. She’d open the door for any stranger. Jaslene hears a knock on her door and opens it. It was an innocent man that wished for water; he was wearing an army-green rain jacket and matching boots. He had grayish hair with silver-blue eyes, puffy lips, and great bone structure. He was very peculiar though he didn’t look bad for a man in his late 50’s.

Asylum
With the sky a gloomy gray, the wind pushed me closer to the building. The surrounding noise dropped away before me as the only noise I was trying to control was my pounding heart. Each step closer, the closer I’m losing my breathing. Images flashed by reminding me why I’m here. Taking one last breath, I’ve reached my destination.
