Pay Attention
The mirror showed a reflection that wasn’t my own. At least, it wasn’t the real me, but a version of me that looked ready for Halloween. Her long brown hair was matted with blood, one of her green eyes was swollen shut, and her pale skin was littered with bright red cuts and purple bruises. I walked closer to my bathroom mirror to get a better look at where she was. I recognized the room: it was my bathroom, and yet it wasn’t. The gray tile floor had a pool of blood by the bathtub and I could see a fist-sized hole in the door. I turned around to see if maybe a hole was really there. There was no hole, and when I turned back around, my reflection had returned to normal, leaving me standing in my flannel pajamas with a confused look on my face. No blood, no hole in the door. Maybe I was still half asleep? I decided to take a cool shower to help wake myself up. After finishing, I dressed, put on my makeup, and dried my hair. The reflection in the mirror never changed. I went downstairs to the kitchen to eat a quick bowl of cereal before leaving for work. I ate my sugar-powered breakfast quickly, washed my bowl, and headed out to my car.

Horror Stories
As the sun began to set on a quiet, rural town nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, the residents of the community prepared for a rare celestial event that was set to occur that evening: a Blood Moon. This event, where the moon would turn a deep, eerie shade of red, was something that only happened once every several decades, and the townspeople had been buzzing with excitement for weeks in anticipation.

Temple Guardian
The mirror showed a reflection that wasn't my own. I rose just before dawn. A bit of grey moonlight swirls around me like fog. I blink several times, as though my eyes are blurry, and I need to shake free of the previous night’s shadows.

Private Richard Garforth
Private Richard Garforth It was a dark, cold, and harsh night on this day, during the winter of 1813. It had already rained heavily once today, which had turned into sleet, and now through the darkness and blustery wind, the heavens had now opened into rain once more. This was certainly not a night to be outdoors if it were at all possible as on the outskirts of a small English town, looking somewhat isolated and alone, stood what appeared to be from the outside, a plain, ordinary building. Not especially large, but not all that small either.
