fiction
Horror fiction that delivers on its promise to scare, startle, frighten and unsettle. These stories are fake, but the shivers down your spine won't be.
The Red Petal
Have you ever had a moment that you completely combed over your life choices in what to you felt like time had stopped, and yet it continued onward outside of your perception. The glass shards that seemed to fan out within the air beside you catch the sun rays of the setting sun just right, you think they are so beautiful. The roses that your ex-boyfriend had sent you as an apology were turned perpendicular of each other as they fell, seemingly in slow-motion to rest on the floor much like a funeral procession throwing flowers into a loved one’s grave. Did you ever consider that you brought this moment of total anarchy upon yourself? Did you care when your mother died, and you didn’t even shed a single tear? That’s okay, you remember that when your father was murdered when you were a child, you didn’t cry either.

Brush With The Skeleton Of Death.
I walk through the night, the clock of town chimes out its hourly call, midnight that haunting silence, the darkest time of any light-less night. There is no moon just a starless sky above as I walk to the resting place of the dead. As usual the iron gates of this sacred ground are open wide for all to wander freely in and out, but maybe its open to let the dead meet the living?

Blood of The Wolf Vol 3
They ran for at least 10 blocks before Lisa and Alan begged Michael to stop so they could catch their breath. Alan took off his shirt and wiped away the blood. The rain that had started falling before the massacre helped to wash it away. Michael’s body was still racked in pain but it was only driving him further. He could still feel his muscles twisting and turning under the surface of his skin. Lisa noticed Michael wasn’t doing too well.

Dancing with the Sandman
Dena Kay liked to take me to the movies when she didn’t have anyone else to ask along. I liked going, as of course, I would like to go just about anywhere. After all, it wasn’t a whole lotta fun, and also rather tricky, having to play dodgeball by oneself. Dena Kay just loved scary movies. She liked to watch me squirm and sometimes scream, so she took me to see Count Yorga Vampire at the local movie place. That movie made a mark on my existence, to say the least. Yep, there is always that one movie that reaches out to me now, well beyond the years, and the more horrific the scenes….the better.

Mechanical Monstrosities
We stood for a long time at the shore of the unknown lake and stared out at the two wrecks we could see. They were a strange sight, for they were obviously ocean-going vessels, yet there was no way to get to the ocean – or any ocean for that matter – from the lake.

Chapter 3 - Michelle
TW: References to domestic violence Frankie curled up as soon as I put him to bed, hugging his tattered, stuffed bear close to his chest. Between the excitement of meeting our neighbor and the unbearable heat, the poor little guy was wiped out. I quietly closed the door behind me and made my way back into the living room to straighten up before Frank got home. The red numbers on the cable box read 8:04pm; he was expected back soon. After rounding up the mess of toys scattered across the floor, I sat at the kitchen table to enjoy the silence before leaving for work. Putting together the remaining scraps of that night’s dinner on a plate, I looked at the disappointing excuse of a meal and hoped that he would just eat it without complaint. I couldn’t help but laugh at my own misguided optimism. Has he ever done anything without complaint?

Help Me, Father
“Father Byron, She’s ready.” she may have been ready but I was not. “I’ll be in momentarily.” I responded, I needed more time to prepare. I had been a priest for years but this was the first I’d ever dealt with anything like this. A young mother, Elize, had fallen victim to something most unholy: A demonic possession.

Sister and Wolf
Any day can go from bad to good, and good to bad. Today, today was the latter. We had come to a stop around midday, and I was enjoying sausages and fresh bread while the sun melted the last of a surprise snowstorm which had temporarily stopped us. In the past week, I have gained a mastery of this Russian that my Akatuyian friends speak, and I have begun to enjoy the idiosyncrasies of their language.
