Supernatural Focused on the Wrong Villain for the Final Season
Why would the writers stoop so low with this villain choice?

I'm almost done with the final season of Supernatural, and while I am enjoying some parts of the story, the main villain really did ruin my excitement for the final journey of the Winchester brothers. I feel that the villain choice they selected for the final season was a really bad idea…for multiple reasons.
I want to be respectful here, and not say who it is, because a lot of people out there would probably have a huge problem with it. I was one of them, and I also had a huge issue with this storyline too.
It came off so disrespectful, and I can't believe that the writers would dare to stoop that low.
In my opinion, the writers were running out of ideas, and instead pissed off a lot of people out there, which led to a lot of mixed reviews of the season. I think they should have focused on this person instead, because it would have been one of the most emotional seasons of the entire show.
Jack Kline, the adopted son of the Winchesters, should have been the villain for the final season.

Jack Kline is actually the son of the Devil, and is also half human. His character is extremely fascinating, he is a good kid, that only wants to do good. What's also crazy, is that he is literally a toddler in the show. He looks older, but because his human mother wanted him to be safe, he instantly grew up once he was born. He is a powerful being in the show, and was strongly implied to be the strongest being in the universe.
Jack was adopted by Sam and Dean Winchester, including their angel friend, Castiel, and the three of them instantly start to view Jack as part of their family. He even views all three men as father figures, and he starts to learn from them, getting a hang of his powers, and how to act like a human. This family bond grows over the course of two seasons, and it pays off so well, watching Jack get so close with his new family.
He used his powers to protect the Winchesters and his friends, doing whatever it took to save everyone he loved. During season 14, he ends up losing his streak of doing good, once he loses his soul, that made his human side stand out. Jack accidentally kills the mother of the Winchesters with his powers, after snapping at her during a scary confrontation.
Jack is desperate to prove to the Winchesters that he isn't evil, but because of his soul being gone, he became unstable. Others that wanted to use Jack for their own personal gain, started to manipulate him, once they found out about his lack of a soul. It also didn't help that his father, the Devil, started to haunt him, taunting him about killing a good person that didn't deserve to die.
Jack is desperate to prove to the Winchesters that he isn't evil, but because of his soul being gone, he became unstable.
He would have been the perfect villain for the final season.
It would have been so tragic to watch Sam and Dean Winchester battle a child they considered to be their son. It would have been an excellent storyline, knowing that Jack goes from a good person to an unexpected evil one, and it would have been an emotional rollercoaster for both the brothers and the audience.
The ending could have gone in any direction too, and I'm sure it would have paid off. The show could have ended tragically, with the brothers being forced to kill Jack, or they could have saved him, helping him heal from the trauma he had inflicted upon others, and himself.
We really could have had a fantastic final season with this villain route!

Nope they had it right...was 👌
I thought the villain they were going to use was the Empty. I liked the empty as a villain who just wanted to sleep and got mad that death, god, Jack, and castiel wouldn’t let it sleep. Could have used many different actors to play the empty too. Never happened. And the empty got resolved off screen
Admittedly, I agree with most fans in saying that the series should have ended with season 5. With that being said, making Jack the show’s final boss? That’s a hard pass for me. Through the entire series, Sam and Dean battled against their enemies on a cosmic stage where the stakes were beyond life and death but existence as a whole. I just don’t see the boys redeeming Jack through the power of friendship or killing him tracks with the rest of the series unless the last several seasons were rewritten to somehow incorporate similar stakes. Though the final boss could be considered offensive for a more conservative audience, it was the only logical choice. The theme of fate is engrained so deep into the narrative ending the series with any other bad guy would have been a letdown.
That would have been a terrible choice, the final villain was not only a perfect decision but had been hinted at since for almost the entire series. A main theme of the series was circumventing what would be the normal, example monsters aren't always the bad guy humans are. The final big bad was perfect and thats a big reason why because thats the one thing you wouldn't expect to be the problem. Jack being good and not going down a dark path also again plays into the point of not following whats expected of him. The devils son being yhe final big bad would be lame, oh the son of the most evil person ever on the show was also evil. Yeah thats fun.
Wow, Supernatural really ran away from the writers after Season 5. It was basically a supernatural soap opera by the end of things, it felt like. Good ruminations on your part, though, good narrative instinct.
