Story that still haunt people-1
"The black cat" short story by Edgar Allan Poe

Once there was a man named Adam. He was a successful businessman and lived a comfortable life in a big house. However, he had a dark side that very few people knew about. He had a habit of being cruel to his pets. He would often take his anger and frustration out on them, and they would bear the brunt of his mistreatment.
One day, Adam adopted a beautiful black cat that he named Midnight. Midnight was a gentle and loving cat, and Adam grew to love him. But as time went by, Adam's cruel tendencies towards his pets returned, and Midnight was no exception. He would often hit and kick Midnight, and the poor cat would cower in fear.
One night, while in a drunken rage, Adam kicked Midnight with such force that the cat died. Adam was horrified by what he had done, but instead of feeling remorse, he buried Midnight in the backyard and tried to forget about the incident.
However, the ghost of Midnight was not ready to rest in peace. It began to haunt Adam, appearing to him in his dreams and causing him to have terrifying nightmares. Adam couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched, and he began to see Midnight's ghost everywhere he went.
The ghost of Midnight was bent on seeking revenge for the cruel treatment it received from Adam. It began to torment him, causing him to experience strange occurrences in his home. Objects would move on their own, and strange noises would be heard in the middle of the night. Adam would often wake up with scratches on his body, as if the ghost of Midnight was physically attacking him.
Adam's mental and physical health began to deteriorate. He lost weight, and his once-flawless complexion became pale and gaunt. His friends and family noticed the change in him, but he refused to tell them about the ghost that was haunting him.
In the end, Adam's guilt and fear consumed him. He could no longer take the constant torment from Midnight's ghost and took his own life. But even in death, Midnight's ghost continued to haunt him, ensuring that he would never find peace.
Midnight's ghost also haunted the place where Adam lived, and the new inhabitants were terrified by the strange occurrences in the house. They would often hear strange noises and see objects moving on their own. They would also wake up with scratches on their body just like Adam. The new inhabitants would eventually leave the house and nobody wanted to live there anymore. The house was left abandoned and it became known as the haunted house in the neighborhood.
The story of Adam and the ghost of Midnight spread quickly through the neighborhood, and many people avoided the house, believing it to be cursed. Some of the braver ones would sneak into the house, hoping to catch a glimpse of the ghost, but they would always leave, terrified by the strange occurrences they experienced.
As the years went by, the house fell into disrepair and became a haven for vagrants and criminals. The ghost of Midnight was still active, and it was said that anyone who entered the house would never return. Despite the warnings, people continued to enter the house, driven by curiosity or a desire for thrills.
One day, a group of teenagers decided to explore the house. They entered the house and soon realized that they had made a mistake. They were confronted by Midnight's ghost, and it was clear that the ghost was angry and seeking revenge. The teenagers ran for their lives, and they never spoke of the ghost of Midnight again.
The house remained abandoned, and the ghost of Midnight continued to haunt it. It serves as a reminder of the cruelty of humans and the consequences of our actions. It is a warning to treat animals with kindness and respect, and to remember that the actions we take in life have consequences that can last beyond our time on earth.
