Stairs that Lead Nowhere

If you spot them, don’t go up them!

Appalachian forest stairwell.

I was scrolling TikTok recently and stumbled upon this urban legend video. It was a woman telling viewers about these abandoned stair cases in the Appalachian forest.

Hikers reportedly see them, and report they look clean despite the fact they’re in the middle of a forest and unsheltered from the elements.

There’s no leaves or dirt or anything on the steps. You’d expect these things to have dirt, leaves, vines, or even moss growing in the cracks. These stair wells look like they were built yesterday.

These hikers traipsed up them in curiosity, only to come down them into another time.

The woman says this one particular hiker who did this, couldn’t find his trail at the bottom. He walked around anxious, trying to find the path that was supposed to be there.

His fears vanished when he saw a little light in the distance…

The man walked towards it and saw a few men around a fire pit. Something felt off, though. They were all dressed in odd clothing and their hiking supplies looked like it was from the 19th century. Their boots were all muddy when it hadn’t been raining, and didn’t look like they were from The North Face or Patagonia.

When the hiker asked for directions they only smiled and pointed, which was another creepy sign. Anyone who met a stranded hiker would offer water, food, warmth around the fire. Perhaps they’d call someone for them.

The hiker anxiously follows this direction and hits his path.

As the hiker was putting up his tent, preparing for sleep, he sees the sun rise. He’s stunned because what he thought had taken only two hours had taken him eight!

Yet another eerie sign something had definitely taken place.
