Run but I'll find you

The story of Sarah

By Tosin AlakuroPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

As the storm raged outside, Sarah huddled under her covers, feeling a growing sense of unease. She had recently moved into a new apartment, and strange things had been happening ever since.

One night, she heard faint scratching noises coming from the walls. She dismissed it as rats and tried to ignore it, but the sounds grew louder, echoing through the empty apartment. Terrified, she searched the apartment but found nothing.

Another night, Sarah woke up to find her bedroom window wide open, even though she had locked it before going to bed. She couldn't explain how it had happened, as her apartment was on the third floor with no access from outside.

Then, she started seeing shadows moving in the corners of her eyes, fleeting glimpses of something that shouldn't be there. She would turn around, but nothing would be there. Her nerves were frayed, and her sleep was plagued with vivid nightmares of something or someone chasing her.

One evening, Sarah returned home to find the walls of her apartment covered in strange symbols, written in a dark red substance. The symbols seemed to pulse and shift, as if they were alive. Curious she walked over and ran her hand over the red substance. She felt a wave of dread wash over her "Blood!" she said , and she rushed out of the apartment, not daring to look back.

Desperate for answers, Sarah researched the history of the building and discovered that it was once an old asylum where patients were rumored to have suffered cruel experiments. She couldn't shake off the feeling that something malevolent was lingering in the apartment. Something very dangerous.

As Sarah packed her belongings to leave, she felt a cold, bony hand gripping her shoulder. She turned around to find a ghostly figure of a patient from the asylum, with hollow eyes and a twisted smile. The ghostly figure whispered in a chilling voice, "You can't leave. You're one of us now."

With a scream, Sarah fled from the apartment and ran into the forest, not bothering to look back. As Emily stumbled through the dark forest, her heart pounding in her chest, she realized she was being chased by something. She could hear heavy breathing and rustling footsteps behind her, but every time she turned around, there was nothing there.

She pushed herself to run faster, her lungs burning, branches slashing at her skin. She could feel her strength waning, and panic set in as she realized she was getting closer to exhaustion. She needed to find help, and fast.

Emily spotted a dilapidated cabin up ahead and made a desperate dash towards it. As she reached the door and pushed it open, she heard a blood-curdling scream from inside. Her heart skipped a beat, but she was too desperate to turn back.

Inside the cabin, she found a gruesome scene - blood splattered on the walls, furniture overturned, and a message scrawled in blood that read, "You're next." Emily's breath caught in her throat as she heard the sound of heavy breathing behind her.

She turned around slowly, her eyes widening in terror, but there was no one there. Just an empty room, shrouded in darkness. She felt a cold breeze brush against her skin, and the door slammed shut behind her, trapping her inside.

With her heart pounding in her ears, Emily realized she was not alone. The true horror was just beginning, and she had no idea what was lurking in the shadows, watching her every move. The screen faded to black, leaving the fate of Emily unknown, and the cliffhanger left the readers gripping the edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating the next installment of the chilling tale.
