Pizza Delivery
Pizza won't be the only thing being eaten tonight.
It’s around 10 pm when my friend, Jade comes over and decides to order a pizza. I glance back to the clock and urge her not to. “Why? I thought you were hungry too. And it sounds really good right now.” I give in because it was easier for her to see it rather than me telling her. I called in the order and although the cashier sounded nervous delivering to my area, it was a sacrifice we all had to make unfortunately.
Around 10:45, my doorbell rings and we unlock the door, but it doesn't swing open all the way because of a tall, bulky poll covered in a sheet blocking it. The pizza delivery guy looks terrified, “P-Pizza? 20.19.” He hands us the pizza and takes the money and basically runs away. “What was that about?” Jade questioned. “You have to see it to believe it, but let's go eat.” Mid way up the steps, we hear screams coming from outside so we rush back outside to see what’s going on.
I open back the door and the tall pole is no longer there. We step outside looking for the source of the screams when out of my left peripheral, I see the shadow of a head duck back into the shadows. “Omg, what is that!” Jade screams. I shove my elbow into her to shush her, but it’s too late. A couple houses down, the delivery guy is face to face with a long, buff demon. It’s hair is long and lifeless, while its face mirrors a beaten up, black and white target. It has no eyes, but staring into it’s empty, bloody sockets leaves you in a trance long enough for it’s large mouth to open wide, exposing it’s long, sharp teeth and swamp breath. “It’s a demon. Everyone who lives on this street is cursed to die here because of a pact made a long time ago with the demons.” “Including you?” “Even me.”
The pizza delivery guy is swallowed whole. The demon makes eye contact with me and begins its descent to us. Before we had a chance to run back inside, another demon shrunken down to human size managed to slip behind us as we watched it’s friend. We take off running as they screech in laughter at our fear. I grab Jade’s hand and run into the woods as fast as we can. “I don't wanna die. I don't wanna die. I don't want to die! Why did you order that pizza if you knew?” Jade cries out.
I stop running and Jade looks behind us before she stops running too. “Why did you stop?” “Because it’s not me they’re after. And the more people I feed them the longer I get to live.” “I thought I was your friend? How could you do this!” “Oh shut up. You actually thought I’d believe we’d still be friends after everything you saw?” Jade starts running again, but she bumps into one of the demons as the other one grabs her by her neck. “I’d like to thank you.” “ For what?” “For being my hundredth person. Now thanks to you, I get the chance to become a powerful, soul eating demon.”
“Alex please, please don’t do this. I was still going to be your friend. Please!” “Having a friend means nothing when sooner or later we will no longer be friends. This way I actually benefit from it. So thank you for your friendship.” The demons slowly begin to tear and eat Jade as Alex walks away with a grin on her face. She picks up the pizza box that was tossed on the floor and closes her front door.
