1. The Haunting Never Ends

Lisa and Alex sat by the ruins of the temple, their bodies covered in dust and scratches. The cold night pressed against them, but nothing could compare to the chilling void Jake had left behind.

He was gone.

Or at least, that’s what they thought.

A soft voice drifted through the wind—Jake’s voice.

“Lisa… Alex…”

They both froze.

The voice was coming from inside the ruins.

Alex stood first. “We have to go back.”

Lisa shook her head violently. “Are you insane?! We barely made it out alive! You saw what she did to him—what if that’s not even him anymore?”

Alex clenched his jaw. “And what if it is?”

A shadow flickered at the temple’s entrance. The faint outline of a man’s figure.

Lisa gasped. It was Jake.

Or… something that looked like him.

2. Between the Living and the Dead

Jake’s eyes were hollow, his skin pale as if life had been drained from him. He took a slow step forward, and Lisa and Alex instinctively backed away.

“Jake…?” Alex whispered.

Jake lifted a trembling hand. “Help me…”

Lisa’s breath hitched. “You’re not real.”

A sinister laugh echoed around them.

Phi Am’s whisper crawled into their ears. “He belongs to me now.”

Jake’s face twisted in pain as unseen hands yanked him back toward the ruins.

Alex lunged forward. “No!”

But before he could reach Jake, the ground beneath them split open.

A dark chasm swallowed Jake whole, his final scream vanishing into the abyss.

Lisa collapsed, tears streaming down her face. “No… no… NO!”

3. The Last Ritual

Alex grabbed Lisa by the shoulders, shaking her. “We’re not leaving him. There has to be a way to bring him back.”

Lisa wiped her tears, determination hardening her expression. “There is one way. But it’s dangerous.”

She reached into her bag and pulled out an ancient parchment. The last page from the temple’s ritual book.

It spoke of a final incantation.

A spell to sever the bond between Phi Am and her victim.

But it required a life in return.

Alex exhaled. “Then we do it.”

Lisa hesitated. “One of us… won’t make it.”

Alex met her gaze. “Jake would’ve done the same for us.”

She nodded. And they began the ritual.

4. The Ultimate Sacrifice

As Lisa chanted the ancient words, the ruins began to tremble. The air crackled with energy.

Phi Am screamed from the shadows, realizing what they were doing.

Jake’s figure reappeared, trapped between worlds.

Then, the moment came.

A final offering was needed.

Without hesitation, Alex grabbed the dagger.

Lisa’s eyes widened. “Alex, no—”

But he had already plunged it into his own chest.

A bright golden light exploded from his body, engulfing Jake’s spirit.

Phi Am’s shrieks turned into agonized wails as her form began to disintegrate.

The temple, the curse, the nightmare—

All of it collapsed into the void.

5. A Hollow Victory

When Lisa opened her eyes, she was outside the ruins.

Jake lay beside her, unconscious but alive.

Alex… was gone.

Lisa sobbed, clutching Jake’s hand. “We lost him…”

Jake stirred, his eyes fluttering open. “Lisa…?”

She forced a weak smile. “You’re back.”

He sat up slowly, his face darkening. “Alex?”

Lisa shook her head, fresh tears spilling over.

Jake clenched his fists. “He saved me…”

The wind howled through the empty ruins.

And for a brief second, Lisa swore she heard Alex’s voice—

“You better not waste this chance, idiots.”

She laughed bitterly, wiping her tears. “Idiot.”

They stood, staring at the ruins one last time.

Phi Am was gone.

But they would never forget the price they paid.
