Old Changi Hospital (OCH) - Singapore’s Most Haunted Site
Although there have been various plans to redevelop the area (hotels, commercial spaces, etc.), the site remains largely untouched, possibly due to its haunted reputation.

History of Old Changi Hospital
The Changi General Hospital was built in 1935 by the British colonial government and was meant to provide medical facilities to all its soldiers stationed in the region. Parts of this hospital and the buildings surrounding it are believed, by many, to have been used by Kempeitai as an internment prison and torture center during the occupation years for prisoners-of-war and others who were perceived as spies. Many of these guerrilla fighters and Allied troops were tortured to death or otherwise executed in this very hospital. Following the Second World War, the British again took control until it was passed to the then newly independent government of Singapore, where it is currently a civilian hospital. After Singapore gained self-government, it came under the administration of the SAF in 1971. It served as a general hospital until 1997, when it was closed down and its services transferred to the new Changi General Hospital. The Old Changi Hospital still remain abandoned today.

Paranormal Reputation & Hauntings
There are a number of reports of shadow people, headless spirits walking back and forth in the hospital halls, and some paranormal investigators claim to have seen a Japanese soldier in World War II uniform walking the halls of the hospital. The hospital is also haunted by the spirits of patients from the past and wartime prisoners, who are said to roam the premises at night. If you have ever visited the hospital, you might have heard distant cries, people sobbing, and cries of pain, which are supposed to have come from the war torture victims. People have reported to see ghostly faces looking out from the hospital windows, and this is even as the building has been left idle for many years. Some paranormal investigators have claimed to have felt possession, dizziness or even being scratched by something whenever they visit the hospital.
Conclusion & Personal Views
Old Changi Hospital is an iconic landmark of the haunted history of Singapore. Whether one believes in ghosts or not, the haunted history and abandonment of the building make it intriguingly mysterious in nature. I would like to visit that place personally and experience it's ghostly past myself.
