Albany Street

I grew up in Vermont Park village in Antipolo City, Philippines. My childhood was full of incomprehensible memories I remember. Our home back then was a bungalow style straight house. with a more than a 1000sqm lot. We are not rich it was just a company owned property where my father works up until this time. Before I was born or maybe I'm a baby, there was an earth element, like a fairy but male. We call it "engkanto", as my mom described, it was wearing an all white suit and extremely handsome. Every night for few months, my mom sees it standing outside our house several meters away, and when midnight strucks while my mother and father are sleeping, my mom will suddenly awaken and she'll feel numbness all of her body. She cannot move here head or hands, she couldn't even speak to ask help to my father. The only thing she can do is move her eyes, while the front door will open by itself, then she hear footsteps coming and the bedroom door will open by itself also and the "engkanto" moves closer to my mom. And it will force himself on my mom, it's just like having sex but with clothes on as per my mom. It happened every night for months. Until suddenly it stops, good thing that it was not like the other "engkantos" rumored that when after forcing itself on the victim, the woman will be pregnant but without child inside the womb and it eventually will die. It is scary to think, but somehow it was gentle to my mother because if not, maybe I wouldn't be here on earth haha.

When I was in elementary days to highschool, I experience quite many disturbances. Like, door opens and closes by itself, the faucet will open and water will run through, I hear footsteps at night while we are all asleep. When I am taking a bath, our shower has a mode that if you turn it clockwise the stronger pressure will flow from the middle of the shower head. It is not easy to turn and it just happen that time. I was shampooing my hair then the water pressure changes straight to my face! Another one is that there are mischievous spirits around the house. One time the phone rangs which is inside my parents bedroom. We have a key corner in th house where all the keys are located. It is strange that their bedroom door was locked. So my brother and my mother are looking for the key but we can't find it. The phone rang like for 5 minutes and my mother is getting irritated, until suddenly the key to their room was just in the key corner! And when my mon will put the key to the doorknob, it opened alone. Creepy right!? Things in our house got lost very often like someone is playing with us.

Three of the most vivid memory I have are these. Are you familiar with the movie, "The Ring"? Yes, the movie where "Sadako" is one of a hell ghost. One time while I was babysitting my younger brother, it was around 7PM of November 2000 or 2001. My brother was just few months old. The lights in the house are open so I thought nothing to be afraid of. My mother and eldest brother went to buy outside. My father was cooking for dinner. I am watching TV while taking glimpse to my brother because he might move and fell at the other side of the bed. One moment I look to him but I was shock that I saw feet on the corner of the room, slowly walking, as it was walking I my eyes and head slowly moves up, I saw spotlessly beautiful white dress, here hands pale, and a long hair covering her face. I was so scared because she was clear and very real to me. The lights are on so I can see that ghost with my eyes. Thankful she didn't turn her hear to me. I cannot run because of my brother. I was 8yrs old then. The ghost just disappears upon reaching the wall. She's just passed by but IT IS REALLY FREIGHTENING!

The other was was on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. My older brother "kuya" and I were having lunch, my mother taking her bath. Since I am aware that I see paranormal things, I don't tell my brother or anyone. (Though I learned later that my brother and I saw a shadow fell from the roof the same time while I am at the bedroom and he's in the kitchen.) So back to the story, while having lunch. I saw which I believe is a man passed the window wearing a "salakot" a traditional hat wore by farmers usually. I thought it already as a ghost and didn't share it. When my mother finish her bath, my "kuya" ask if anyone is in the property (even it is company owned, we are the caretakers and no one goes there without prior notice to my father). My mon said there is no one and given it is weekend and lunchtime. And my brother told what he saw, the same ghost I saw and described as wearing a "salakot". We are told by our mother just to ignore it.

The last one for this Albany Street will be on my next blog. (It includes on the Philippines' renowned actor)

If you like it and want more of my own horror experience, please let me know. There are plenty to be told. :)
