Midnight Terror Part 1: Rajiv's Cursed Mansion

The wind was getting stronger, as if the palace itself was listening to our story. We hesitated for a moment before stepping inside, but it was too late.

Midnight Terror Part 1: Rajiv's Cursed Mansion

One quiet evening in the Indian city of Pune, I was sitting with my friend Ram at a café overlooking a busy street. The sky was darkening, and the air was filled with the aroma of Indian food and spices. At that moment, a strange question crossed my mind that I had been hesitating to ask Ram for a while. I had heard about an abandoned mansion at the end of Baner Street, next to a small lake. The horror stories surrounding the mansion were being told by people in the city, but I had not known many of the details.

I looked at Ram and asked him casually, “Do you know anything about the abandoned mansion at the end of Baner Street?” Ram turned to me with mysterious eyes, as if I had touched something he was trying to forget. He waited a moment, then smiled faintly and said, “Are you serious? You want to know about the mansion?”

I replied enthusiastically, “Yes, but I don’t just want to hear about it, I want to go there and see for myself.”

Ram thought for a moment before saying, “If you insist, let’s go tomorrow. But let me warn you, this is no ordinary place, and the events that happened there are not just fairy tales.”

The next day, the air was heavy, as if the sky was warning of something unusual. Together, we headed to the end of Baner Street, where the abandoned palace was. The palace stood tall amidst the dense trees as if it were hiding from the world, its old walls were eroded and the wooden doors were almost dilapidated. I felt a cold draft running through my body as we approached the palace gate.

Before we entered, Ram began to tell me the real story of the palace and its owner:

The owner of the palace, Rajiv, was poor at the beginning of his life, barely surviving on his modest income, but he had a huge ambition in his heart. He wanted wealth at any cost, and he was ready to do anything to get it. Over the years, the more he failed to achieve his dream of wealth, the more his thirst and greed increased. One day, he heard about a black magic ritual known in India as “Agori”. The ritual had a terrifying reputation, as it was said that those who practiced it would gain demonic powers in exchange for sacrificing their most precious possessions.

His greed led him to seek out an Aqouri magician, and despite the risks and warnings he received, he decided to take the risk. After months of searching, he found the magician who promised him wealth, but warned him that the price would be high. Rajiv did not care about the price; all he cared about was achieving his dream. He began performing the ritual, and things changed quickly. His wealth began to grow incredibly. What had been a simple hut became a luxurious palace, and a luxurious life became his normal routine.

But, as always happens with black magic, there was an inevitable dark side. Rajiv’s greed knew no bounds. After becoming rich, he saw his neighbor’s wife, a beautiful woman. He fell obsessively in love with her, and wanted her to be his, even though she was married and happy in her life. He asked the magician to help him get her, but the magician warned him sternly. He said, “This woman is married, and if you try to get her by force, it will bring ruin and damnation upon you.”

But he did not listen. His madness for this woman was stronger than any warning. He decided to act on his own, and hatched a plan to get rid of her husband. One dark night, he invited the husband to the palace under the pretext of business, and there in the hidden shadows of the cold rooms, he killed him in cold blood.

But things did not go as planned. After killing the husband, Rajiv tried to get close to the woman, but she rejected him vehemently. Not only did she hate him, she felt an indescribable terror whenever he came near her. She told people that her husband’s spirit still haunted her, and that she saw his shadow everywhere. It was not long before ghosts began to appear in the palace. At first, Rajiv could see them in the corners of his eyes, little moving things, whispers in the night. But he ignored them. He did not believe that spirits could touch him.

But he was wrong. The ghosts began to haunt him directly. He heard strange noises at night, felt cold hands touching his body. One night, he woke up to find himself surrounded by shadows. Spirits were whispering incomprehensible words to him, filling his mind with madness. He no longer knew whether he was alive or dead, whether he was dreaming or having a nightmare.

His mental state deteriorated rapidly. He screamed at night, saw distorted faces in the mirrors, and heard voices asking him to confess his crime. Eventually, he couldn’t take it anymore. He jumped out of the palace window in a desperate attempt to escape, but he never made it to the ground. Legends say that his soul is now trapped inside the palace, wandering between life and death, searching for a salvation that will never come.

As Ram finished his story, I felt a shiver run through my body. The wind was getting stronger, as if the palace itself was listening to our story. We hesitated for a moment before stepping inside, but it was too late.
