Maria and Her Friends
Maria had always been a social butterfly. She loved spending time with her friends and was always the life of the party. So, when she moved into her new apartment, she was thrilled to find that she had some friendly neighbors. There was Sam, a friendly guy who loved to cook, and Lisa, a shy but kind woman who always had a smile on her face. Maria quickly became friends with them, and the three of them started spending a lot of time together.
One night, they decided to have a small party in Maria's apartment. They drank wine, listened to music, and chatted about their lives. As the night wore on, they started telling ghost stories. Lisa had a particularly scary one about a woman who had been killed in their building years ago. Maria and Sam teased her for being so easily scared, but secretly, they were both a little creeped out.
As the night went on, Maria started to feel like something was off. She couldn't put her finger on it, but she felt like she was being watched. She tried to ignore it and keep the party going, but as the clock ticked closer to midnight, she couldn't shake the feeling.
Finally, she decided to call it a night and went to bed. As she lay there in the dark, she heard a sound. It was like someone was whispering her name. She sat up, her heart pounding, and looked around the room. But there was no one there.
She tried to shake it off and go back to sleep, but then she heard footsteps. They were soft and barely audible, but they were definitely there. Maria was frozen with fear, but then she heard a giggle. It was a child's giggle. She knew then that she wasn't alone.
Maria sat up, ready to run, but then she heard something else. It was the sound of her friends' voices. They were whispering to each other, and then they started to giggle. Maria was relieved to hear them, but she was confused. She got out of bed and walked to her bedroom door, but as she opened it, the laughter stopped.
Maria looked around, but there was no one there. She called out to her friends, but there was no answer. She walked through her apartment, searching for them, but there was no one there. Maria was alone.
As she sat back down on her bed, she heard the giggle again. This time, it was louder. Maria knew then that it wasn't her friends who were making the noise. It was something else.
Suddenly, she saw a figure in the corner of her eye. It was a small child, standing in the corner of her room. Maria was frozen with fear, but then the child spoke.
"Come play with us," the child said.
Maria knew then that she had to get out of there. She ran out of her apartment and never looked back. She never saw her friends again, either.
Years later, Maria came back to the building to visit. She asked the current residents if they had ever heard of a child ghost in the building. They looked at her like she was crazy, but one woman spoke up.
"I've heard of a child ghost," she said. "But I've also heard that she only appears to people who have friends."
Maria knew then that she had made a terrible mistake. She had let her fear and paranoia get the best of her, and now she was paying the price. She had lost her friends, and she would never forget the ghostly laughter that haunted her every night.
