I Am Eli
I AM ELI As I walk, I can hear the small branches cracking under my boots. The forest sways and the trees whisper as I’m on my way to kill. I've thought this through time and time again. I have been carefully waiting and planning the perfect time. I have every detail I need to be ready for this kill. She’s single, no family, lives alone, and doesn't attend a college. Pretty much non-existent in any type of community. She has no pets, so there will be no disturbance to me upon entering her home. She lives on the edge of these woods. In fact, I can see her home now.

Planning on Having Some Fun This Easter Weekend? Watch out for Ferocious Demon Babies!
When I was a kid, we were always advised not to go out during Holy Week (as a form of penance). So when we stayed at home, aside from Biblical movies on television, there are also horror movies that depict exactly why you wouldn't want to go out on Holy Week.

9 Reasons You'd Be Accused of Witchcraft in the 17th Century
If my ancestors had settled in a predominantly Christian/Puritan area in the late 16th century — and in the Western side of the world — I'd probably never have been born. Because they were mostly healers (and women), they'd likely have been accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake after correctly diagnosing that the neighbor's kid went insane because of a rabies-infected dog; or the neighbor's milk spoiled because they totally forgot they had milk in the first place.

The Doctor Is In
Dr. Robert Alaric was a professional plastic surgeon. He helped people perfect the flaws they saw in themselves. It was something that he secretly enjoyed not for the happiness after the surgery, but the misery before. He enjoyed them coming to him depressed and self loathing. He often enhanced that by telling them they were right the body parts they hated were hideous. The truth was the doctor was a twisted person, but they were too caught up in their own hate that they did not catch on to it.

Nightmares and Demons
During the night sleep can be fleeting. a branch against a window and sound like witches fingernails, or the house settling can sound like ghoulish moans. being afraid of the dark is a primitive reaction, and most of the time our minds can churn out tons of logical explanations when things get weird.

The Key
My 16th birthday is in eight days. I have been preparing for weeks. Booking the venue, ordering decorations, making the guest list, shopping for food, and of course, many many trips to the mall for the perfect outfit. My name is Eleanor Waldorf. You have probably heard of my last name, but don't think any different of me. I am just a fifteen year old girl growing up in the streets of New York City, worried about my grades and trying to fit in. Don't let me fool you completely, though. It all may sound normal, but it couldn't be farther from it.

Answers from the Past Part 3
I pulled out picture after picture of different family events from when I was a child. There were newspaper articles of significant events, such as when I was in track and volleyball in high school. I couldn’t believe my grandparents didn’t put this stuff in photo albums. I put the box aside after I put everything back in. I thought to myself, this summer when I don’t have classes, I’ll put all that stuff in albums and scrap book some of it.

Eerie Places People Don't Talk About
I think it is obvious to all of us what people look for when trying to find haunted areas. It usually includes a building in which someone was murdered or where people were tortured. It has some sort of well known history like that and people like to go there to toy around with whatever spirits are left there to haunt visitors. I want to introduce a different sort of eerie; the one you really have to be in tuned with your surroundings to figure out what is going on.

Something Eerie
It was past 8, and I had just finished babysitting for the night. I didn’t drive due to the house only being a few blocks from where I lived. I lived in a quiet, peaceful town where nothing ever happens. The only thing we have here is a little general store and there are not many houses around either. I started to walk home. I heard a song earlier on the radio that was stuck in my head, so I decided to hum it while I walked. It was a peaceful night in the low 70s. A perfect little breeze hit my face as I started to head home. As I was walking down the sidewalk, I noticed a man standing at the corner of the road. I was on the left side of the road as he was on the right side. I didn’t think anything of it at the time and kept on walking and humming. As I got closer, I saw that he was wearing nothing but black. He also had a black hat on that looked to be something from the 40s. He was staring at me. As I looked right into his mysterious eyes, he gave me a distinct smile that sent shivers down my spine. At this moment, a cold chill went right through me. I tried not to act frightened and kept on walking. I was relieved when I passed him. The thought of knowing that I didn’t have to look at him anymore while I was walking made me at ease. I started to walk a little faster, anxiously waiting to arrive home. It was at that moment, I heard quiet footsteps behind me. I started to panic. What if it’s him? He’s following me now? I was so scared. I turned my head to look to see if he was still standing on the corner or if it was his footsteps I was hearing. Thankfully, he was nowhere in sight. I took a deep breath, letting it out in a sigh of relief and as I turned back around, I stopped. The fear of dread came over me. At the end of the road in the darkness was the man. He smiled at me, but it wasn’t like before. This smile was more evil and sinister. I immediately started to panic. I felt as though I couldn’t move. My body was frozen. I stood there looking at him. I turned the corner and ran as fast as I could. As I was running, I looked back at the man. He was still smiling that evil smile. “What do you want?” I screamed. He didn’t answer. I turned back around and started running again. As I was running, I glanced back to see if he was still following me. To my horror he was now running. I was so scared. It was at that moment, I saw my house. I ran to the door and tried to unlock it. My key was stuck. I turned to see if the man was still running after me. He had stopped and was now standing at the end of my driveway. As I looked at him, I noticed that he no longer looked like a man, but something evil. His mysterious eyes had now turned red. His smile was even bigger with razor sharp teeth. His face looked like something out of a nightmare. I screamed and I turned back around and gave my key one last twist. It unlocked and I ran inside and locked the door as fast as I could. I was so scared to look out my window, fearing that he would be looking in. I called the cops and told them what had happened. They said they would look into it and that they sent a patrol car out. I hung up and waited for the cops. They did not find any trace of the man. To this day, I still do not know who that man was or why he was standing out on the corner of the street. I now drive anywhere I need to go.

The Hourglass
I blinked. It took a moment for my eyes to adjust to the darkness. When my eyes adjusted, I looked around and noticed I was in a small room where there were neither windows nor a door, but bookshelves on both sides of the room full of office-looking-supplies like tape, staplers, rulers, etc., and above me were lights slightly hanging from the ceiling; they looked like Christmas tree lights. They reminded me of the stars. I don’t know why but they gave me a sense of peace and comfort. In the back left corner was a cardboard box full of instruments with some other instruments hanging on the walls next to it; some had strings, some were longer and bigger than others, and some looked so weird like how could someone play it? In front of me was a dimly lit, brown desk with small racks and shelves full of monotone colored books and knick knacks like dolls or snow globes, but more specifically an hourglass right in the middle of the desk, which was between two wooden stands with a wooden rod in the center to turn the hourglass. It was filled with black sand all the way at the bottom; it kind of shined in the dim lights and made it appear to glitter and shimmer.

Laughter
It was late at night when I got to Casey’s house. At about 3 AM, I parked in the gravel driveway or the little yellow house and turned off the ignition. The house was cheerful looking, with bright flowers lining the small wooden porch. The windows were dark as I got out of my car and made my way up the driveway, the stones crunching beneath my feet, and up the creaking wooden stairs. I knocked and waited, but no one answered. I tried the handle. The door was unlocked and swung open easily as if inviting me in. I walked straight into the dark living room.
