Lament of the Soul

A necessary transformation in the pursuit of harmony! - A micro

By Antoni De'LeonPublished about a year ago 1 min read

"There was only one rule: don’t open the door.” Oh, but please, I need to see beyond!

I am trapped in a timeless expanse, where days and nights blur into a soul sucking void of nothingness. Why am I not radiant and unburdened by the weight of the physical. Why doesn't my soul float serenely in the vastness of space and time, singing its song of harmony with the universe.

Disturbance ripples through this sea of non-tranquility. Inexplicable fissures appear upon dissonant notes, jarring the soul from yearning. Harmony that once enveloped, now feels distant...forgotten. Shadows of doubt and discord creep into the soul's essence, gnawing.

Bewildered souls ache, seeking solace in ancient memories burning into the fabric of being. They remember moments of pure joy, the euphoria of boundless connections. But now, these memories feel tainted, as if a shadow had cast its pall over them.

The soul cries out, not with a voice but with the very essence of its being. "Why has this disturbance come? Why is harmony fractured"?

"Who will dare open the gate of time. Can't they see my pain, my torment"?

Thee expanse remained silent, a black void offering no answers. The soul's lament wails awfully, a profound yearning for the lost equilibrium.

Time stretched endlessly, the soul journeyed through light and shadow, encountering other souls who had faced their own dissonances. It learned that the disturbance was not an external force but a reflection of its own evolution...a necessary transformation in the pursuit of a higher harmony.

Soul embraced its lament, allowing it to become part of its song and a more complex whole. It found peace and the courage to open new doors to new experiences.

I opened the door, eyes weary to whatever fate decrees.

This piece is more than just poetic, it's more than just lamenting. It is food for the soul and as well food for thought. I love also that you've given us the answers, to why we are experiencing the things we experience. That it is necessary, there's a kind of comfort in pointing that out.

  • Oh wow, this was deeper than the deepest depths of the ocean! Whoaaaa, you blew my mind with this!

Facing the dissonance of the soul and opening new doors takes courage...and makes a great take on the challenge. Well done!

I really like the concept of the soul facing its own dissonance. This feels so introspective and raw. And existentialism might not be monstrous but it can be its own horror. The way I interpret this, I feel there’s an interesting juxtaposition— almost a conflict— between confusion and clarity. A crisis of uncertainty but also a resignation. Also, the shift from present to past tense jarred me at first, until a second read where it made more sense. I kinda think your last line could hit harder (or atleast feel more pressing and urgent) if you went back to present tense, or even future tense.

Well-wrought! There's an old saw about courage and fearlessness that applies here. Namely, that courage overcomes fear rather than lacking it, whereas fearlessness tends to be a result of hubris or ignorance. Those who fear the unknown neglect that in their environment which is known to be dangerous in favor of an illusion of safety, whereas those who dare to seek out the unknown do so out of hope of foiling those corrupted designs which lurk in the shadows of the monoliths of the known world.
