Jinn Possession

"How about I take you on a date tonight to the Hookah Lounge I work in, just for old time's sake," suggested Jameel while watching his soccer match. "You don't have to do that; it's your day off! They will just pull you over to hand the customers their cocktails as they laugh and make unsymmetrical smoke rings,” his wife beamed out.

"They won't do that, IT'S MY DAY OFF, and they KNOW better than to disturb a man when he's with his wife; that is off-limits Mm Mm!" Frowned Jameel, stating the obvious. Ayesha blushed, giving a weak smile, "Just for old time's sake," she blurted out as she kissed Jameel on his forehead, handing him his afternoon shot of chamomile tea. Jameel couldn't help but giggle, reminiscing the time when they both would run off from school, skipping the gym class. Just to meet at that Lounge, puff out some fresh smoke and go home with their mouths smelling of fruit and smoke.

Now, Jameel and Ayesha were happily married for about two years, and Ayesha was 30 weeks pregnant with their baby. "I'll teach him soccer if it's a boy; you teach her salsa if it's a girl," Jameel always used to say, daydreaming about their baby. A little bundle of bliss.

It was almost dark, "GET READY JAMEEL!" bellowed Ayesha from behind. Jameel realized he had been glued to the TV for hours; he got up to go to his room. "Welcome to the world of the living," remarked Ayesha, with as much sarcasm as she could muster.

"I'm shining WHOOO!" Exclaimed Jameel striding out of his room, dressed, gloating at how good he looked. Jameel wore denim jeans and a skin-tight charcoal t-shirt that would complement his muscular physique. Coming towards Ayesha, “Would you look at my beautiful wife,” he uttered, short of words. He was dazed by the sheer beauty of his wife, how well she was carrying that red dress, the way it hugged her slender body. He had gifted her that dress on their first anniversary. And how her jewelry would emit a sparkle that would make her hazel eyes glimmer even brighter than the jewelry. She was perfect. And at that moment, everything else was perfect too.

They made their way to the car got inside it. En route to the Hookah Lounge. Jameel drove sluggishly. He wanted to savor every moment. The radio played an old classic song, and both of them sang together, with all the broken lyrics they could come up with.

The Lounge wasn't too far away. The happy couple made their way into the Lounge. "Here with the missus, Eh?" greeted Liam, a co-worker. Jameel blushed. "Today, you are our VIP customer; you'll be thrilled by our service," continued Liam beckoning the couple towards a table. “We’d like a watermelon hookah, please," Jameel trumpeted.

IN came the incensed hookah with ignited coal and a thick pipe to burden your lungs. Ayesha inhaled first, "Ah, just enough to refresh your mind." She handed over the pipe to Jameel, Jameel inhaled, and then his inhaling rhythm broke. He dropped the pipe; not believing his actions, he tried to grab the pipe in mid-air. It was no good; his lousy attempt to handle the pipe went in vain. Instead, the pull set the hookah stand in motion, and it fell off the table. Its blue glass shattered everywhere. The coal was digging into the Lounge's wooden floor. It smelled like burnt barbecue. A shred of coal had also gone Ayesha's way, carving a burnt hole in her anniversary dress just over her thighs.

"Are you OKAY, Jameel? Stammered Ayesha. "Somebody, HELP! HE'S HAVING A SEIZURE," thundered Ayesha noticing Jameel's body on the floor; he had fallen off his chair. Jameel's body was shaking vigorously; the sight sent shivers down Ayesha’s spine.

The Lounge’s staff hurried towards Jameel, spraying him with cold water, putting ice on his sweaty forehead, trying to make him sit. "SOMEBODY CALL 911," Fumed Liam.

And then it happened. Suddenly Jameel gained consciousness; the shaking had stopped. Jameel gave a big, wide smile. The lights of the Lounge started to flicker; the music volume started going up and down. Ayesha could hear the sounds of bulbs exploding somewhere in the background. Ayesha looked at Jameel's face; it appeared different, demonic. She couldn't find an eyeball in his eyes, no irises, no pupils, only sclera, just a plain, evil white. Ayesha couldn't breathe.

Liam tried to approach Jameel, but infuriated, Jameel swung an arm in the air, and Liam supernaturally flew towards a wall, his head hit the wall. Ayesha could see a stream of blood painting the wall. Fighting the horror that was paralyzing her body, Ayesha screamed with all the energy she could summon, ”JAMEEEEEEEL," tears flooding her eyes.

The demonic creature that was once her Jameel came towards Ayesha. Ayesha knew that it had come to kill her, she closed her eyes. She'd get her last wish anyway – for Jameel's touch to be the last before she dies. She accepted her fate. Jameel raised his right arm and stood here, frozen.

Tired of waiting for her death, Ayesha opened her eyes, looked her husband in the eye, and said, "Stop this…" She could swear she saw Jameel's light brown irises appear in his eyes before Jameel finally fainted and fell to the ground.
